I am new to raspberry pi - but have been using Plex on desktop and laptop for some time.
I have my raspberry pi set up and have loaded the Plex Server.
I have an attached, powered, NTFS formatted hard drive attached to the Raspberry pi.
When I look at the folder structure on the Raspberry Pi, I can see the individual TV shows listed in the TV Shows folder. I know these files will play on Plex, as I’ve previously had them loaded on a different Plex Server, where they played without incident.
I can load Plex Media Server on my Raspberry pi 4. The Raspberry Pi turns up as the only option to load libraries.
I have some TV shows on the hard drive in a folder labeled ‘TV Shows’. When I select ‘Add Library’ I am taken through the process of identifying the path to the TV shows folder - in this case: media-pi-Media-TV Shows…However, when I add the library, I inevitably get the error message: ‘There are no items in Library’.
I’ve been through this process countless times, and am about to pull out what remains of my hair.
I’ve scoured the forums, and believe that I have the file structure correct, and have verified that I have support for NTFS formatted drives.
I can see from the various forums that this is a common issue, but I have yet to see a solution that works for me.
Any input much appreciated.
sounds like a permission issue… you need to make sure plex (user) has access to those folders and the drive is properly mounted.

Hey Austin, did you ever figure this problem out. I believe that I followed all the steps to give the Plex Media Server the necessary permissions by setting the user to “pi” instead of “plex” but I still get the same problem as you. I am totally blocked from getting this to work.
