Plex started doing something bizarre. It’s happened on my Roku Express and my Roku Streaming stick. Sometimes when I open Plex, the logo and loading animation move off to the right and it looks in that state and Plex won’t open. The only way to fix this is to restart the Roku. Has this happened to anyone else?
I too have had this happen on a TCL Roku TV after latest update.
- Navigate to the home screen when resuming if opened 5+ minutes after the last exit. (9.4 firmware)
Might be related to this change. Also with this change Plex now returns to the home screen of last logged in user after hours and hours even if “auto log in is disabled”. It used to always open to the login screen which I think it should have a time out time. If it is past 15mins then log out the current user and open to the login screen. Now I have to manually log out to maintain security for children in my Plex Home.
Happening to me too. Removed app and added it back. Plex app fired right up. Will continue to monitor. Issuing was occurring on Roku 3 and Roku Premier.
I’ve also had it happen a couple of times. Same symptoms too: logo is off to the right.
I have had this exact issue for about 5 days on one tv, it started about 3 days ago on the second tv, but my living room tv still loads just fine and they are all working off the same server. Its really annoying. Can someone please figure out the fix. I have updated the server, updated the Roku’s, deleted the Plex app and reinstalled. Nothing has corrected the issue.
Well, I’ve restarted my Roku Express (2019 gen) countless times in the last several days, I’ve made sure all servers have been updated to the latest builds and I’ve removed and reinstalled the Plex channel. It’s still doing this. And now, it’s also often buffering a few minutes into playing an episode (watching old QIs), until it just quits to the main Roku menu. But, what I find really strange, is that when I restart Plex at that point, it goes back to the last menu I was on. If it’s jumping out like that, shouldn’t it be shutting the channel down, such that it would have to be restarted as if you’d restarted the Roku?
Not sure if it’s relevant, but while the app is behaving this way with both my servers, it seems to be a bigger problem with my PC-based server (not on local network) than with my cloud-based seedbox.
Hope there’s a fix for this soon, because it’s getting quite frustrating.
Yep, I have the same issue with the same off-center loading screen. With a restart it works again for a while.
I’m running the Roku Premier 2019 with latest firmware.

I have the same issue on only one of my 4 Roku devices. Have to reboot it every time.
Same here on a roku ultra and TCL roku TV. It is very annoying. Most recently happened 5 minutes ago, which brought me to this forum.
Exact same issue here on my TCL 2019 6-series Rolu TV. If you have already used Plex and exited the app, the next time you open Plex the plez Plex logo goes to the bottom right of screen and loading wheel spins forever, you have to restart TV to get Plex working again…
Can we PLEASE get a fix for this? Tired of having to restart my TV every time in order to use Plex.
Update: it seems Plex updated. On all of my Roku devices, the loading animation looks different, and none have had this issue since.
Just checked for updates to my TCL TV and plex app - no updates found and it’s still having the same problem. Only way to solve the problem is to power down and unplug the TV.
Plex Channel on new Roku Ultra (2020) failed to load with the icon moving to the right lower part of the screen. Required restart of Roku. Both Plex and the Roku are newly installed and fully up to date. Plex started fine the first time. This issue persisted on day 2 of use and could not be resolved without Roku restart. IT seems like this issue has been persisting for some time - so this needs a fix or both Plex and Roku are gone before my 30 day trial term with Roku is over.
Issue is still happening for me on both TCL Roku TV and Roku Express. Very annoying. When can we expect a fix?

I am same issue only with Roku connecting to PLEX.
I have multiple ROKU Ultras in the home they all suffer from not being able to connect to plex while other items like my iPhone, iPAD, Window PC all have no issues connecting.
If I reboot the Roku it will then connect. Then after a period of time (i have not determined the amount of time yet) I can not connect again, rebooting Roku fixes it.

This had been not happening and I think it started happened after I upgraded PLEX
Yea, it works just like the Plex App on the FireTV now. You might as well reboot it before you use it - and then reboot it while you’re using it when it locks up.
It’s that whole App Parity thing - I think they’ve got it figured out now - coming soon to a device near you.
