Plex won't play m3u8

Any idea why plex won’t play a m3u8 that’s being successfully passed from xTeVe?! The .m3u (containing the m3u8) published by xteve plays just fine in VLC but plex throws the following error:

Turn subtitles off.

Where would i do that? The thing is the player never starts because the error thing pops up, so no playback controls (subs)…

Play a channel that works and then turn subtitles off. Then try the broken channel again. Or go into Plex settings and turn them off. Not sure if subtitles are the problem but the log file says no codec found to play them so this is where I would start.

MDE: : selected subtitle stream has no codec

Thanks for chiming in.

I did figure it out, and it turned out to be something else. As soon as I enabled the streaming buffer in xTeVe (it seems to be disabled by default) all channels started coming through.

Weird, I don’t have the streaming buffer turned on because it caused problems with looping streams.
