Help with setting up Telerising and xTeVe in Plex

I’m trying to get my IPTV channels to work with Plex on an Ubuntu Server 22.04.

I’ve used the tool Telerising to generate a m3u playlist with the IPTV channels from my provider Zattoo/1&1 TV. I’ve confirmed that I can successfully stream the channels from the playlist in VLC.

To get the channels to show up in Plex, I’ve installed xTeVe on the same machine. During the setup process, I’ve selected to get my EPG data from Plex (the “PMS” option instead of providing an XMLTV file) and inserted the same m3u file that works with VLC

In Plex xTeVe shows up as a tuner and all the channels from the m3u file are listed and I can assign the EPG data to the individual channels. However, when I try to start up any of the streams, I only get an error message, instructing me to check the source.

What am I doing wrong here? I’ve used the default settings in xTeVe when ever possible. Do you have to enable any of the buffer settings in xTeVe to get this to work?

After installing ffmpeg on my Ubuntu server and activating the “ffmpeg buffer” in xTeVe, I can now start the streams right inside of Plex.

However, HD channels keep buffering every couple of seconds. Even though I using a lan connection. Do you have to maybe change any of the other buffering settings in xTeVe to get this to work properly?
