Post your server log. Close the server, start it and wait two minutes, play a file that doesn’t work, wait one minute, close the server and then post the log.
thanks for your reply but im having trouble finding them. im in the local app data server logs but there are alot. any ideas??
Here’s the problem:
Mar 19, 2016 22:20:03:395 [1436] WARN - Low disk space: 6515065971 bytes source file, 127194361856 bytes capacity, 2698031104 bytes available on C:\Users\lewis\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Cache\Transcode\Sessions Mar 19, 2016 22:20:03:395 [1436] WARN - TranscodeSession: inadequate disk space for transcode
Your C drive doesn’t have enough space to transcode the file. Plex added a check for disc space equal to the original file size + 100MB. You can either clean up the C drive to get more free space, or you can move the transcode directory to another drive or partition. The directory location can be changed in the Plex server settings for transcoding.
you are the man!!..or woman
thanks very much kegobeer!
Hi,
I recently setup a NAS QNAP with plex. I am having a similar problem with about 20% of my movie files not being able to be played. I get the following error:
There was a problem playing this item. AVPlay.prepareAsync() failed: message=Unkown error, Error: Unknown error at getErrorObjectLocal (:15405) at callback (:1:
The files I’ve seen experiencing this issue have been .avi files so far. Any ideas? I tried finding logs but couldn’t figure out how to do it through my tv.
Thank you,
Drew
Hi there have you tryed installing div x encoder i think that solved all the problems I had a while back. My plex server is running like a dream now and has been for a good year now.
Thanks for the help. I tried looking for div x but couldn’t find it under plugins within the plex app. Is that where I should be looking for it? I didn’t really see a comparable plugin either unfortunately. Any other ideas?
Thank you.
No you can find it on Google search. Also there’s a video converter on the plugin to convert them into MP4 and other files maybe that will help.
Yeah but im playing plex through a QNAP NAS system through my smart tv, not my computer, so i’m not sure how that would work. The transcoder/encoder would need to somehow but downloaded within the plex app right? how else would plex know to play a video file through an outside program? I’m new to this NAS/plex stuff so I don’t fully understand it.
I’ll look for the mp4 converter plugin.
The NAS is a computer still right so you can go on that and download what you need??.
yeah but when i search apps on the NAS, i don’t find any encoders. I’ll just post a new thread on the plex forum and maybe someone has an updated directions on how to find an encoder and link it to plex. I feel like it shouldn’t be this hard, maybe im just too computer illiterate
