I have over 2000 Movies which update perfectly and have no issues. I have around 500 TV Shows that amounts to thousands of individual episodes and they update perfectly. Now my music is a different story. I can leave music update over night or for a few days and I’m lucky to come back to one or two artists at most being uploaded to the server from my hard drives. I need to fix this. Any suggestions? I currently have 15k Tracks and am trying to upload a few thousand more.
That is the fanarttv log, which doesn’t help diagnose your problem. Can you provide the scanner and either the lastfm or plexmusic log depending on which agent you use? Or just provide the entire log package from Settings \ Server \ Help \ Download Logs.

Hey, sorry for the late response. I looked over your logs and your server logs don’t match up with your scanner logs so I can’t quite tell what is going on. I do see 1 thing. I see your scanner looking at 2Pac from H drive, but it says there is already record of those songs being on G drive, so it’s just reusing the data instead of trying to rematch the data. Did you use to have a G drive and moved your files over to H. PMS may not have recognized this move properly and made duplicates.
When the issue started I thought it was the hard drive. I didn’t know which songs were and weren’t uploaded to the server and I wanted to maintain my playlists. I wasn’t sure if it was the hard drive so I just copied the G files onto an H drive and have been adding new files to the H Drive. The H drive has a lot of duplicates. What steps should I take to attempt to fix what you may think is the problem/problems?
It looks like you still have the G drive location as a source for your Plex music library. Or if you’ve removed it, PMS still has that data in it’s database. At this point, it might be easier to remove your music library and start over.
ok I tried what you said and its been updating for over a day and is not uploading anything… here are newer logs.
I’m still reviewing your log but initially, I’m wondering if your problems have yo do with your file structure. I see that your music library is at H:\Plex Music. But you have mp3 files in this folder along with other folders for your albums. This is possibly confusing the scanner and getting things all mixed up.

I have new logs and the same problem which has never gone away.
I’m having the same issue with a new PMS install on a new machine. 3 days and no music had been added into the library while no such problems exist with movie and pictures library’s. What’s going on here?

Your scanner is getting stuck there. I’m not sure which of those 2 files is causing the problem, but try removing those from the folder for now and see if it resumes scanning.
Please help! I have tried to load my music library and it just spins for days. I never get the black bar on the bottom showing it is loading certain items, and no albums ever load. Just spins and spins. Have over 30k songs, thought maybe it was too much so broke down them in ABC folders and still not loading. HELP
Don’t try to create a ‘Premium Music library’ if your music is not stored in a strict hierarchy of
Music > Artist > Album > Tracks
If you have folders with more than a few dozen tracks in them, the scanner will just time out and do nothing.
Try with a regular music library (last.fm) instead.
Or do the right thing and reorganize your file storage.
Thank you! That worked. It always had that preset so just used it. Brand new to Plex so not sure how to use everything. Didn’t think it would break down everything correctly not being premium but it still did. What am I missing not doing it premium. Just preloaded playlists and better matching??? Thanks again!
Mainly that. Sometimes the album art is a bit better quality too.

Thank you!!! When I switched to last.fm, I was able to get Plex to properly scan additional media. But I had to do it manually, a couple of albums at a time. After scanning properly, Plex would still kind of “hang” and continue to scan until I stopped it.
I became bold and figured I’d delete the music library and start from scratch, making sure to create a STANDARD library with last.fm as primary agent. Things started out great. But as of now, the scan seems stuck on 2753 albums (out of about 9000). I’m going to continue letting the scan run, just in case it will kick into gear in a while. But it doesn’t look promising.
I’ll try to update my experience tomorrow, maybe, after I see what, if anything, happens.
Regardless, I appreciate the help!
add albums in batches.
After it is finished scanning, trigger a Plex database optimization
Only after that add the next batch
