After installing a new router a few months ago, I’m having trouble locating/loading my own libraries via my home wireless devices such as Rokus, Phones, and Tablets. The Plex app opens fine, and I’m actually able to view and stream friends’ shared libraries without issue. However when on my own server, my library is will very slowly load, if at all. None of the metadata will load and when I select to play something it says it cannot play after about 5 minutes of loading.
I do have port forwarding set up on the new router, exactly as I did on the old one, for remote access to my Plex server. I have have confirmed I am able to stream my library remotely without issue. If I use the browser on my hard-wired PC to go to Plex.TV, I access my library and play media just fine. So the bottom line appears to be my Plex library works everywhere except on my own Wifi network. I haven’t changed anything else other than installing that new router. I’ve tried so much it’s driving me up a wall. Plex worked perfectly with my old router I just don’t understand what setting is different that’s causing this much of an issue.
The only “success” I’ve had is toggling the Windows Firewall on/off on my machine that runs Plex. After I turn it on/off, Plex usually works fine but for no more than 1 day. Then it returns to being slow/unusable. So it appears to be irrelevant whether the firewall is on/off but the toggle fools Plex in some way.
Things I’ve tried/verified:
- Restart router, Plex machine
- Set all devices to Allow Insecure Connections
- Toggle Windows Firewall on/off on Plex machine
- Confirm Plex Media Server is allowed through firewall
Any help on the issue would be appreciated. Thank you.
