After installing a new router a few days ago, I’m having trouble locating/loading my own libraries via my home wireless devices such as Rokus, Phones, and Tablets. The Plex app opens fine, and I’m actually able to view and stream friends’ shared libraries without issue. However when on my own server, my library is will very slowly load, if at all. None of the metadata will load and when I select to play something it says it cannot play after about 5 minutes of loading.
I do have port forwarding set up on the new router, just as I did on the old one, for remote access to my Plex server. My friends have confirmed they are able to stream my library without issue. If I use the browser on my hard-wired PC to go to Plex.TV, I access my library and play media just fine. So the bottom line appears to be my Plex library works everywhere except on my own Wifi network. I haven’t changed anything else other than installing that new router.
Any help on the issue would be appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for the input. I was able to get it to work after a few things and I’m not even sure which precise action did the trick but I modified my router’s firewall and the Plex server PC’s firewall to be much more lenient. On the Plex PC, I changed the network from public to private (I must’ve forgotten to set it this way when I set up the new router). I also updated the DHCP IP range on my router because I noticed the static IP I assigned to my Plex machine was within the DHCP range. I then uninstalled the Plex channel from my Rokus and reinstalled it. It then started working.
Before all that there was a message on the Roku Plex channel saying something about allowing insecure connections to which I selected “on same network”, and it appeared to help but overall it was still malfunctioning.
If it starts to act up again I will go through the steps you provided. Thank you.
