The Plex App sucks balls WRT just playing a random song from my downloaded music file. I’ve posted about this and have been sufficiently ignored - Music, Music, Music, but not a song to play! - #13 by MovieFan.Plex. Nobody even bothered to comment.
I have no idea what you mean by " It comes down to anti-ARGGH . Per legality reasons, they have to implement mechanisms to prevent their software/service from allowing our own servers to aid in such activity". Who exactly is saying they can’t legally download files to a cellphone’s filesystem in untouched form? It’s my server, my files*** and my cellphone. Hell, I do this all the time. Nobody’s suing me. What is the law that says you cannot download a .mp3 file onto a person’s phone? And even if there were, what do you currently do to download media? I mean the option is there and people can download the files. Yet, for the life of me, I cannot find where these files are stored. Another person posted a question about this and he’s been ignored too.
Tell Elan that I have ~67 Gig of music, supposedly all already downloaded to my phone, and still have 126G free. So I’m not worried about space at this time. Still, if you put all of the files in one folder, and hashed them, then you can index them by key and keep only one copy. Such data processing problems have been worked out decades ago.
