Cant download full playlists cause the download only downloads max 24 hours ._. why?
This is just plain ridiculous! “the current system results in a robust, pretty much bulletproof download system”, unless, of course, your bullet is to get all of your music downloaded to the phone. I don’t understand it, you simply keep downloading stuff until completed, Anything else, anything limiting it, is, by definition, more complex in that you have to build in limitations.
“The limit is there to avoid performance issues and potential breakage”, excuse me? What performance issue? Anybody with a very large library expects it to take long to process. We’re OK with that. Potential breakage? Again, where? Stupid.
your reaction is on par with the rest of us ![]()
It’s a wait and see situation.
IIRC, a while ago, before these restrictions(?), I downloaded my entire music collection. Still can’t find on my device where they stored the files…
The regular Plex App should not have those limitations but one will have to deal with the less ideal fact that the Plex App lacks the fluidity and UI that Plex Amp has.
Accessing the Plex Amp files in their folder won’t help you out much. I’ve advocated multiple times about the need for both Plex Amp and Plex App to allow access to downloaded content per the files directory, allowing them to be ready by say another media player. It comes down to anti-ARGGH ![]()
. Per legality reasons, they have to implement mechanisms to prevent their software/service from allowing our own servers to aid in such activity, even if it means if those files were needed for last resort backup.
Additionally, Elan has stated that Plex Amp does not distinguish if a track already exists on other playlists or its own internal database , so what Plex Amp does is downloads the same exact track multiple times, eating away at storage that could have otherwise been freed by an automatic check of the Plex Amp database.
The Plex App sucks balls WRT just playing a random song from my downloaded music file. I’ve posted about this and have been sufficiently ignored - Music, Music, Music, but not a song to play! - #13 by MovieFan.Plex. Nobody even bothered to comment.
I have no idea what you mean by " It comes down to anti-ARGGH ![]()
. Per legality reasons, they have to implement mechanisms to prevent their software/service from allowing our own servers to aid in such activity". Who exactly is saying they can’t legally download files to a cellphone’s filesystem in untouched form? It’s my server, my files*** and my cellphone. Hell, I do this all the time. Nobody’s suing me. What is the law that says you cannot download a .mp3 file onto a person’s phone? And even if there were, what do you currently do to download media? I mean the option is there and people can download the files. Yet, for the life of me, I cannot find where these files are stored. Another person posted a question about this and he’s been ignored too.
Tell Elan that I have ~67 Gig of music, supposedly all already downloaded to my phone, and still have 126G free. So I’m not worried about space at this time. Still, if you put all of the files in one folder, and hashed them, then you can index them by key and keep only one copy. Such data processing problems have been worked out decades ago.
I’m just the messenger. I’ve already voiced my own concerns, exactly what you’re chiming on about. There is a reason why their silent on the matter.
Which is?
Maybe mean spirited posts ?
Awe, did I hurt their feelings with the truth? Bummer. Grow a spine.
