Server Version#: 1.22.3.4392
Player Version#: Plexamp 3.4.5
I am using the Plexamp app.
I have made a playlist with a size of 127 tracks.
If I download this playlist it will only download 120 tracks.
The size of the playlist is 3.2 GB at 9 hours in duration. Quality is set to maximum and most tracks are Flac 44/16.
Opus conversion rate is set to 256kb/s
Is this a bug or intentional? Or am I missing a setting somewhere?
What did you set the limit to when you downloaded it? A playlist under 3 hours long will just download, but a longer one will popup a dialog with amount to download.
Alright, So I removed and added the playlist for like the 10th time.
Now it has the correct amount of songs.
Do I need to re-download the playlist every time I add a new song?
Iâm having a similar issue. I made a playlist on PlexAmp of 473 songs, total length of 1 day 9 hours. However, when I try to download it, I am limited to only downloading 24 hours worth. The âsliderâ maxes out at 24 hours, so it only downloads appx. 360 songs. Iâve tried deleting and then re-downloading the playlist, but every time the max is 24 hours.
Since we do not have the ability to create smart playlists by duration we cannot determine the average lengths. As such, on a âclassicalâ music library, 24 hours can either be a few hundred songs, or like 10 (operas, symphonies, etc). to each their own on that but in the past I remember plex limiting the download based on storage capacity on receiving device.
(you can sort by duration and limit a smart playlist) then sync another in the opposite direction, but as we do not have the filter to exclude other lists âplaylist is not âblahââ how to know what we really get there? 24hrs is like 5gb on my 256gb iphone. i donât âneedâ all that on my phone, but why should i be tethered to my plex remotely to maintain a fresh collection. i should be able to sync as much as i want/can and go)
just my humble opinion.
the solution then from a programmatic standpoint is set an internal hard limit on the download queue so the primary does not get âoverwhelmedâ on toasters. only toaster users would notice this occurring (likely).
Well, it feels like the only way this is likely to get attention is if more and more folks poke you to point out that your current answer sucks for a number of us.
Yes, weâre not using it like you thought we wouldâŠbut thatâs not as much our fault as a failure of imagination on your team.
My #1, #2, #3, and #4 reasons for using Plexamp is to use it in places where I donât want to be connected. I want the stuff Iâve marked downloaded and played in the manner I like. I like Plexampâs playback so much more than the regular Plex appâs music handling, but the list limitation is seriously frustrating.
Eh, we imagined there would be people who would complain about it.
At least some of those people go on to discover all the new ways you can offline music, like keeping a smart playlist of loved tracks which you havenât listened to in the past month (this keeps the download fresh).
But sure, we knew there would be a minority of people who wanted all of their music available all the time.
My playlists are not nearly âall my musicâ, and I understand why itâs easier for you to minimize and mischaracterize my experience than it is for you to listen to feedbackâŠbut that doesnât make it a good look for you.
Could you at least make it more explicit in the plexamp client that this is intended behavior for the time being? I too would like to be able to download longer playlists, but thought it was a bug that it wasnt downloading it all due to:
The settings let you state you want to reserve up to 32/64 gb of cached songs.
I made sure to have 20+ gb free on my phone, and the same playlist on my iphone via itunes syncing is about 20gb.
Sometimes, after deleting and re-downloading, the downloaded list will say itâs full length instead of just 24 hours worth.
Edit: the download dialog does show that 100% is 24 hours, but still doesnt say why that is the maximum, itâs as easy to overlook as it is to mistake itâs calculating it wrong
