PlexAmp 4.6.1 headless Rpi4 not playing music stuck on loading player screen

Hello,

So I’ve set up PlexAmp headless on a RPI4. All logged in and seemly running fine except I cannot play anything either directly on the browser or casted from the IOS app. The browser loads up the player screen, but it remains blank with spinning loading (screen shot attached). It never seems to play the track. Have I missed something?
Thanks

Make sure you’ve used the cast button to select a player.

Hi , @t_b_heth as @elan explained … you need to use your PlexAmp player on your phone to select the headless PlexAmp on the raspberry 4… (its an end-point) , you can play music via the web interface of the pi but that would defeat the purpose. If you have configured everything correct music will be played on the PI .

Couple of points, make sure you have used the steps to auto start the headless PlexAmp after a power down (switch off)

Also make sure that a correct audio device is selected on the rpi config. I was having a similar issue, and discovered that somehow the audio had switched to the PulseAudio device from my default USB Audio.

Thanks all for the advice, got cast selection point from another thread. That wasn’t the issue, the issue I had was that the Hifi Berry DAC I was using was not quite set up correctly. Managed to sort it editing the /boot/config.txt and it’s working now.

This guide here for anyone with a similar issue (make sure to use the correct one to your DAC, I find Hifiberry naming confusing)

Thanks

Confirming. I had the same issue with my 3B+. I am using a generic version the PiFi. Essentially same board. Once I set the config it worked.

Experienced the same issue and resolved it with fixing the audio output configuration. Originally tried doing the RPi OS Lite and output over HDMI. I couldn’t get it working and I eventually gave up trying.

I purchased the IQaudio DAC+ and followed these instructions: How To Set Up An IQaudIO DAC+ With Volumio and Raspberry Pi OS - YouTube. Now it’s working wonderfully.
