Plexamp and setting Keyboard shortcuts

I setup global shortcuts so i could use numbers to rate songs and the arrow keys on my universal remote to go to the next or prior track. Now anytime Plexamp is running I can’t use my arrow keys or numbers since plex hijacks these keys. another example is searching for U2 in plexamp, pressing the 2 does not type it in the search box but rates the song with 2 stars. Is there a way to setup shortcuts so they are not exclusive and stop working for other purposes? Meaning I should be able to press the number 2 when the full track player is active, have it rate the song but when I type in a search box or use a different application the 2 functions normal. Like how the spacebar works, when i am on the full player view, it pause the song but when i go to search it adds a space and does not pause the song.

They are called “global” for a reason.
The idea is to have key combinations, which are also working if Plexamp is not currently focused. e.g. you can operate Plexamp while working in other apps

Don’t assign basic keys, or combinations which could conflict with key combinations of other apps. Pick unique ones, which are not used in your other apps.
