Keyboard Shortcuts in Plexamp

I just discovered Keyboard Shortcuts with the latest release but I can’t use them. When I try to set a keyboard shortcut, that key is no longer useable even when I don’t have the PlexAmp window in focus.

For example, I set 0 thru 5 up as the shortcuts for the Track Rating and when I went to my web browser and began typing, those keys would rate the current track rather than type in the web browser.

Is this intended behavior? I think of keyboard shortcuts in the way that Google Mail has implemented them, so my expectations may be off. With Gmail, when I’m not focused on the browser, the shortcuts have no effect.

FWIW here are some details of the environment I’m running:

OS - Windows 10 Pro, Version 2004, Build 19041.685
Plexamp - Version 3.4.0
Hardware: Surface Book 3

That’s why they are called “global” shortcuts.
They are intended to control Plexamp, even when it is not in focus.

So you must use a key combination which doesn’t collide with another app you might use on your computer.

Ah…wow…ok…well, I guess I won’t be able to use then. Thanks for the information.

If your keyboard has “Media” buttons, you should be able to use them (at least Pause/Play, NEXT and PREV), without defining shortcuts first.

Thanks for that suggestion. I do use my keyboard for those items. I was kind of excited about being able to quick rate songs as they play…I might come up with a ctrl+x but I liked the idea of using 0 thru 5…I use those in my browser quite often though. I’m sure I can figure something.

I found that even when I have a single shortcut in use , I can’t even type some letters : like A E D … Even when these weren’t programmed as shortcut. I noted that when I selected the numbers on the numeric pad , it recorded letters instead. I guess this disabled these letters in the first place. No more shortcuts for me !

have set ctrl-shift-1/2/3/4/5 for global ratings with no problems so far
