PlexAmp cannot find Chromecast devices

I recently installed PlexAmp on my Android phone (OnePlus 9). I like the interface, but it will only play to my phone. It does not find any of my Chromecast devices on the same network. Or rather, it occasionally finds them but usually doesn’t. It seems pretty random. Any suggestions?

Make sure it is not on some sort of alternate wifi network. It needs to be on same subnet

Is it fine from from app.plex.tv in Chrome on your computer on network?

Thanks, yes, it is on the same subnetwork. Plex on my server has no problem finding the TV. To the best of my knowledge, there is no available Plexamp install for server - only for mobile phones and PC. My problem is that Plexamp on my phone cannot find any of the Chromecast devices on my network. Other apps on my phone are able to find Chromecast devices.

I’m assuming you mean app.plex.tv or the local web app in browser here. ( which are really the same thing)

There is https://www.plex.tv/plexamp/ download links towards the bottom of page ( it does not need to be installed on server computer)

Hi, just wanted to add a “me too”

Plexamp on my iOS devices finds all my network speakers, I can chromecast from plex in chrome on my Ubuntu laptop, but plexamp on my Ubuntu laptop finds no speakers, only plexamp running on my macbook. Had this problem on 4.95, and it’s still there on 4.10

To be clear: the problem is that Plexamp, which is installed on my phone, cannot find Chromecast devices that are on the same network. Thus, I can use Plexamp to play music from my phone to a Bluetooth speaker connected to my phone, but I cannot use it to send music via Wi-Fi to the media server attached to my stereo.

I don’t know why you’d go to so much trouble to build an “audiophile” GUI for PlexAmp and then make it impossible to get audiophile quality sound. Bluetooth is not a lossless format and thus is not audiophile.

Ideally, Plexamp should be able to serve as a UPNP controller to connect a media server with networked audio devices; but if that’s not possible then, at the very least, Plexamp should be able to send audio reliably over Wi-Fi to Chromecast connected devices.
