Hey, loving v3.0.1 of Plexamp! A feature I would love to see is to be able to remove a track from a playlist from within the app. I can add tracks but if I want to remove them, I need to go to the plex Web app to do this. Maybe I am missing something? TIA
Weāll be adding improved playlist editing in the future.
Thanks for the kind words!
I agree, love the app but just found out I canāt delete a song from the playlist.
Or even delete a playlist at all. Plexamp is nice but itās like it wasnāt tested with real users?
+100 here. Need this. I accidentally added a Metallica song to a Smooth Jazz playlist and obviously dont want it there!
I Love PlexAmp. Best way to be a DJ of your own music. Just need some minor tweaks and fixes to make it superb. I use it more than the regular Plex app.
Now that GPM is turned down and Google Cast is working, Plex/PlexAmp is the de facto best player on the market for folks who donāt want to rent their music. I really need to be able to edit playlists from the PlexAmp app, please prioritize this!
have you tried swiping left or holding down and dragging?
Thanks @elan, that seems to work for songs that are coming up or already played. Is there a way to remove the currently playing song from the playlist? BTW, loved your interview on Self Hosted!
i think we might be talking about different things Up Next/Back To is the play queue. editing it doesnāt affect the playlist the tracks came from (if it came from a playlist).
you can separately edit a playlist by going into the details and swiping on/dragging tracks.
ha, thanks
Yes, weāre on a different page. For example, Iāve created a playlist that plays all songs by an artist. In my library, there are a few songs Iām not super fond of and Iād like to remove them from that playlist. Iād love to be able to remove them as Iām listening to that song. There is no way to swipe or delete the song from the playlist using PlexAmp on Android.
ah yeah; you can do it, but itās not easy. you need to go to the playlist in question and remove it from there.
having the ability to remove a track from a playlist which is powering the play queue is a bit tricky (you may have added other tracks after playing from the playlist, there can be multiple playlists with the track, and other such things). when you play a playlist the server essentially ācopiesā all the tracks over to the play queue and treats them separately.
is there this sort of functionality in other apps? for the rare times iāve wanted to do this, i just go to the playlist in question.
Just to confirm, you need to go to the playlist in question in Plex? I canāt find anywhere to do this in PlexAmp. If I long-press a song, I can reorder it but there is no way to remove it from the playlist that Iāve found.
In GPM, there was a context item to āRemove from playlistā. The currently playing song was easily identifiable in the playlist by the ābouncing VUā icon next to the song.
Ultimately, there is probably a better way to do this with Smart Playlists. I am able to change the rating of a song while listening to it but havenāt found a way to play all songs by a specific artist that arenāt a rating of one-star. That automatically excludes new music not yet rated.
This will only work with a ādumbā playlist.
i.e. one, which was built by adding songs manually, using the āAdd to Playlistā command.
If this playlist was built using a filter, it is most likely a āsmartā playlist. Smart playlists only (and automatically) update themselves according to the filter which was used to create them.
If you want to remove single items from a smart playlist, youāll have to convert it into a dumb playlist first. Which of course then loses the ability to update itself.
swipe left.
Confirmed working. Iām not sure why I wasnāt able to do this before. I have moved on to smart playlists. I went through and rated all tracks as a 3-star rating. The smart playlist uses the artist name and filters for tracks > 1 star rating. When Iām listening to a song that I donāt like, it gets a 1-star rating and I then skip it. It doesnāt show up again.
it works sometimes . latest version of plexamp. its very frustrating, sometimes it works again when restarting the app.
can you be a bit specific as how it doesnāt work when it doesnāt?
I will try as best as I can. I am trying to migrate the collection from the old google music app to pexamp.
To do this a playlist had to be re-created and has now 263 tracks and 15 hours of music.
(i will give feedback in a moment as well as to how clunky this was too)
Generally add an album then go in afterwards to remove the songs i dont want and after give or take 10 removes the app does not respond nymore to a swipe to show the remove button. Also scrolling on a list that large feels slow for the ui to react.#
but in essence it works on a fresh start of the app and then started to stop responding after manipulating the list.
other feedback⦠playlist managment is a bit counter intuitive.
if you are on the list and you want to review what is in there and select a song pressing play opens the song view. it would make more sense that the song starts to play and shows playing in the bottom bar area. that way it is easy to stop and swipe to remove at that level or just add a remove option at that slideup. it has a add to (playlist) why not remove from (playlist)
but the key at the moment which my wife agrees on is the frustrating aspect of removing stuff.
more then happy to discuss if it all made no sense.
thanks
thanks for the reply. weāll be looking to improve that swipe-to-delete action in the future (you can see an upgraded version in the play queue itself below the full-screen player, does that one work better?)
the swipe feels better and more responsive in that list mode. off course it does not remove it from the playlist.
as i was testing i noticed that when i go and tap the last song in a play queue it loads the next section in fine but when you are towards the bottom end give or take 100 songs in the response to swipe also seems to stop working in that list. also tapping the song at that point seems to make it to start play straight away rater then the context menu coming up.
very odd.
personally i preffer to single tap a song in a playlist/queue to have it start to play so that bug played (pun intended) in my favour.
