Sometimes, force closing Plexamp on the phone and starting it again makes the control reappear. On other occasions, I have seen the controls appear after a few minutes. Finally, sometimes only the repeat control appears.
Also, the screen does not update after the song has already changed. Sometimes, it takes close to 2 minutes after the song has changed for the carplay dashboard to update.
Also, another UI issue. The rating star (even when it is full, i.e., 5-star) does not show against the dark background. That is not the issue in this screenshot, but you can imagine that the black controls (wondering if they are hard-coded) may be hard to see against a dark background.
we’ve had a few reports of this, but it’s maddening because we’re giving CarPlay the icon with both light and dark themes. will probably need more investigation.
I have the same issue. And in addition to that, the album artwork is missing usually for the first track played. it appears when the next track is played or when skipping.

Carplay with Plexamp has been showing consistently strange behaviours I can’t quite understand. When playing any playlist, the album art either doesn’t appear, or shows only the album art from the last song that played! Despite the “Now Playing” mini modal in the zoomed out carplay view showing the correct art.
And with that, the controls below the track bar only show up once or twice before favourite, radio and shuffle disappear to only show the repeat button.
Last thing, when tapping the album itself, it brings me to the artist page which is WONDERFUL, but I realized recently that it never shows the entirety of the music that the artist has… it seems to exclude everything except albums (live, EP, singles, compilations do not show)
In theory the new Plexamp experience in Carplay is EXACTLY what I’ve been dreaming of for my ideal car music experience, and hopefully these bugs can be squashed once and for all because for now I mostly look and sigh at the possibilities.
I have also noticed some strange behavior around album art. Most consistently, if I skip a song the art will show the skipped song’s art. This typically corrects itself after approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds. This is also the case when album art doesn’t load. Consistently around 1 minute 30 seconds into the song, the art will load. I’m not experiencing any of the other issues mentioned in this thread, CarPlay is working great for me otherwise so these are very minor complaints!
