Plexamp 3.8.1 CarPlay Issues

Great improvement in CarPlay support with 3.8.1! I especially love the ability to change Plex Libraries easily. I also like that when you select the album currently playing that you get a list of not only the current album but other albums by that artist – I’m not sure if that was intentional or not, but I really really like that behavior.

One problem I noticed is that selecting the back button during playback can confuse the song position. For example, if the song is 10s into playback and the back button is selected, then the song restarts like it should but the position of the song stays at 10s and continues to count forward. I verified that this is not happening in other CarPlay apps.

Same issue happens if the same song is selected that is already playing. The song restarts as it should but the position of the song gets confused.

I know it sounds odd to select a song that is already playing but oddly enough I seem to do this often, I sort of look around for a different song and then decide to just restart what’s currently playing.

Basically there seems to be a problem in general with restarting the current song that is playing.

A second issue that I noticed is that upon start up when I first get into my car and choose PlexAmp on CarPlay, I will get a weird blank screen until I navigate away from it. It seems to be trying to play something but can’t. Perhaps this is because I’ve changed Libraries? I’ll continue to test for what causes this.

Ah, interesting. Does that seekbar match what you’re seeing in the iOS control center thing?

This is also fixed in v3.8.2, it’ll just show you the ||| icon so you can go into a populated Now Playing screen like other music apps.

Elan, I’m not sure what you mean by the control center but maybe it doesn’t matter since I see 3.8.2 is already out there — I will test it tomorrow morning

@elan I still get the same problem with 3.8.2, especially during the first 10 or 20 seconds, the control does not return to zero when I hit the back button to restart a song. It doesn’t happen all the time but is a consistent problem during the first few songs I play of the day. So far I’ve not seen the problem with Apple Music

Another question, is it possible to display somewhere the sample rate being played? This would be good to see on both the iOS and CarPlay versions if it’s possible
