A couple of playlists refuse to start playback on the mobile version of Plexamp (iOS/v3.3.1). The same playlists work flawlessly on the desktop version (MacOS) or Plex (both mobile/desktop). I have rebooted the device, re-installed the app, but that does not solve it. Any suggestions?
yes, i have the same problem when i tap “library radio”. i use “plex music scanner” instead of “plex music”, if it helps. because somehow when i tap “debugging” it only sends message “Share Debug Logs” and no data. and the same error happens both in my android client and windows client.
I also have the same issue. I’m using the same Plexamp version on iOS and iPadOS. It seems like some sort of bug with the app.
On the debug I get a WARNING - Error loading artist data.
can anyone post Plexamp logs for the issue?
only thing we’ve been able to determine is that in some cases, invalid characters in the music data (filenames on Linux) can give trouble on iOS.

Same problem here… Selecting individual artist or random album works like a charm, none of the radios (Library, time travel, mood, etc.) work at all.
Both scanner and agent set to “Plex Music”.
Brand new server (upgraded synology, started from scratch).

I think I figured it out on accident… at least for me.
I set both Scanner and Agent to Plex Music and ensured “Popular tracks” was checked.
Set all the checkmarks in Advanced Settings, Scheduled tasks to checked
Then… wait 2 days for scheduled tasks to do their thing. That will build the stations and add all the plexamp goodness. Depending on how long your scheduled maintenance windows are and how big the library is, it can take a few cycles/days to get through it all.

that makes sense. if you have disabled popular tracks, there will be no tracks to choose from and those radios will fail.
(you can speed things up by doing a Refresh All Metadata)

If nothing else, I wish the error message in the app were a little more detailed. It looks like it’s returning an empty playlist, and that’s why it can’t play? Maybe it could say “No tracks found” or something.
Also not sure why no tracks would be found? When I tap on the triple-dot menu next to “Shoegaze Radio” and then tap “Browse Albums,” there are plenty of albums in there.
My guess would be that the tracks on those albums don’t have popularity data. And agreed, we could do a better job with a) fallback in those cases and b) error message.
@elan How can I look up whether they have popularity data?
I kind of expected it just to shuffle songs from those styles; not sure why popularity has to factor into it
