Just started using the Plexamp app and I think its pretty awesome! I mainly use Plex to stream music from my home library at work so Plexamp is pretty ideal. One thing that I can’t seem to get to work however is the Library Radio. When I try and use it nothing at all happens. This feature would be great as I usually just shuffle my entire library. Anyone have any ideas?
@deRuff how did you manage to make i work, because i installed the other day and ask me to logg in and after that i get message to connect to server, do i need to have music files on my plex server to work ?
@Seven_ I just installed it, logged into my account and it worked. I do have my music on my plex server, so I would guess that you would need to setup that way.
Immediately after the first startup of Plexamp, access to your server may take a while until it is fully established. If it fails to playback at first try, wait a few seconds, then try again.
If there are issues with authentication or ‘signing in’ to your account, make sure the default web browser on your system is currently signed in to your plex account. (Just open http://plex.tv/web and ‘sign in’ there - this is only needed for the first start of Plexamp.)
Your whole library must have been analyzed.
This happens during the maintenance hours.
Make sure your server is running in that time period and that you have the task ‘Perform extensive media analysis during maintenance’ activated.
(Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks)
Whether your library has been analyzed already you can determine by looking at the Plex mediainfo of several tracks. (pick one recently added track and one of the oldest)
If there is a value for ‘Loudness’, the analysis has been performed successfully.
@OttoKerner Everything else about the app seems to be working fine. I checked my media info for a few songs and I do see the ‘Loudness’ information.
The only thing that seems to not be working is Library Radio. Nothing at all happens when I try to play songs that way.

Is your music library a ‘Plex Premium Music’ library or a regular (last.fm) library?
Have you disabled some agent for music or are you preventing some data to get fetched from last.fm?
Or is your library particuarly restricted in terms of numbers of artists or albums?
How would I check all these things?

post the Plex XML info of one track in your library and we can determine this.

Post a screen shot of
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - Premium Music
as well as
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - last.fm
If you don’t remember creating some fancy firewall rule to block certain servers, you probably did not do anything of the sort.
Or is your library particuarly restricted in terms of numbers of artists or albums?
Simply:
how many different Album Artists are there?
how many different Albums are in there?
I don’t think any servers are blocked. I can play songs. There is a new thing I’ve noticed now though, Plexamp seems to just stop playing after a few songs and I have to restart with another playlist or artist.
Oh, and I have a library of 868 artists and 1,577 Albums

@OttoKerner Here is the XML info for a track
https://99-230-72-50.955ca77c43084a509f8b6b725c77947c.plex.direct:32400/library/metadata/88346?checkFiles=1&includeExtras=1&X-Plex-Token=z???
Sorry that is not the XML info. It is merely the URL that leads to the info and I cannot click it.
You were supposed to copy the source code of that “web page” out of your browser.
And never, ever post your X-Plex-Token
again!
This is like a key to your server.
Your screenshots are looking ordinary.
That’ll do.
guid="local://...
This song is not ‘matched’ (Very likely the whole album is not).
So there are also no metadata available for this song which enable Plex to tie it to some online meta-database.
All the radios kinda rely on these meta data.
In the Web app, does this artist have ‘Similar Artists’ at the bottom?
Did you perhaps abort the library update because it was too slow, when you originally created the library?
If the album were matched, you’d have a guid=com.plexapp.agents.plexmusic://...
in a Premium Msuic library
and guid="com.plexapp.agents.lastfm://...
for a last.fm library
Interested to know how this ends up - I have the exact same problem. Everything works except for the Stations.
Love this little player!
@OttoKerner I’m fairly sure that the library uodates regularly. Is there a way to make sure that all the albums get matched? Would I have to do them one by one?

You can at least try one at a time. Just to determine whether there is an essential issue with the matching process or not.
Try both the manual ‘Match’ command
and the Plex Dance (with music, you can omit step 4 of the dance)
@OttoKerner I’ve checked quite a few albums and they seem to show that the albums are matched. I guess I’ll have to try the Plex Dance method when I have the chance.
One thing though, if the problem was incorrectly matched songs wouldn’t there be other issues with playback? I can play any other radio (artist, time travel, etc.) it’s just Library Radio that doesn’t seem to do anything. Click it and nothing happens.
For now I’m out of ideas, sorry!
I guess we’ll have to inspect some logs now.
On Windows, they are in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Plexamp\Plexamp\Logs
Most interesting is the Server.log
copy at least the log lines 1 second before you clicked on the ‘Library Radio’ button
up to the end and attach them here as a log file.
@OttoKerner Here is the server log just before I clicked Library Radio
