Plexamp delete media

After using Plex for quite a while I have just started using plexamp. It is the best player by far and I love the sonic adventure! The only thing I would ask for is the ability to directly delete a track from the library. Currently if I decide I don’t like a track I have downloaded, I mark it as one star and then I will delete it in Plex

I would like to see this too.
I have several songs that I don’t like, but I often forget about them by the time I get somewhere I can delete them.

If this functionality does indeed make it’s way into PlexAmp, I would advise there be a couple of safety mechanisms in place so files aren’t directly deleted on the first instance.

Have PlexAmp have a trash :wastebasket: tab where these media items would have a temporary place to be held just in case you chose the wrong item or version to be deleted. In this same tab you can have menu options like:

•Delete Forever: submit a task to the server to permanently delete the files instantly

•Delete as Scheduled Task: add the queue of items to be deleted on the next Scheduled Task or Library Scan.

•Nevermind: this would remove the file in question from the trash and forget that you ever placed it in the bin.

Also have the ability to apply the actions above by selecting just one, multiple or all media files located in the bin.

@elan possible? see mock-ups.

Use the inbuilt “star rating” and assign the track either a “don’t like” or a one or a half-star rating.

This will

  1. prevent the track from being incorporated into any of the automated “radios” and
  2. you can filter your library for low-rated tracks in the web app and delete at any time

This would be great. In addition to the above, the user could create a playlist for tracks rated 1 star, select all tracks and then bulk delete the track from their library.

:man_facepalming:t2:stop making the web app happen

Not all tasks should have to lead us to the web app to do. All modern streaming service apps allow us to delete full albums or single tracks from the accounts with ease. Plex should be no different.

Some of us want to take care of things right away, not having to constantly have to open the web app in a browser to do minuscule tasks.

It took a few years to have SCAN LIBRARY FILES added to Plex clients but that was something that should have been a no brainer. This idea that everything has to be done from the web app is a bit absurd.

boop! @elan

Wow, two pings on Friday night and Saturday, I feel so special!

We’ll eventually offer media deletion via the app; however, no plans to offer anything more complicated. What @OttoKerner suggests with smart playlists is a clever way to at least collect the items. When we support collections you’d be able to make a Trash collection as well.

I had no intention of pinging twice actually but never know if anything works correctly on the forum or the Plex.tv site so I gave it a go. Thanks for letting us all know this feature MIGHT be on the horizon. PlexAmp 4.0.3 has been pretty solid and we thank you for continuing your improvements of the music experience.

Incorporating media deletion would be such a great efficiency improvement for people working professionally with many files and folders on the go. And I agree that this should be rather kept simple - delete, confirm, done

you can delete albums from the artist page in the current release.

Thanks for the tip. That helps to a certain extent although the biggest efficiency improvement for me would be the possibility to delete single tracks while listening.

Much appreciated that you and your team are so close to the discussions and suggestions which keeps improving the Plex universe.

I would love a feature like this as I have a ton of music that I kind of filter through and delete when necessary. Right now I have a smart playlist that is based on zero plays and if I skip the song early enough, it won’t get marked as played. It’s not perfect, but it at least allows me some way of figuring out what to delete without having to manually do it right in the moment.

I can appreciate the ability to delete whole albums, but I would really like to be able to delete individual songs. I listen to a lot of soundtracks that have songs or transitions I would rather not keep, and having the ability to delete the song right after I skip it (like the Plex app) would be a huge time saver for me. Please, please add more options to delete media within PlexAmp.

Please add the ability from Plexamp to permanently delete songs as they are being played from the Plex Server local drive if users don’t want the song(s) anymore. This could be accomplished by adding a single-click “delete button” to the currently playing song screen, including a pop-up warning notification that asks, “Are you sure you want to delete?” If this is too dangerous to have enabled as default, it could be added as an advanced option setting that users could enable first that would add the “delete button." Plex will be splitting into separate apps to offer more specialized features for music and photos soon. This request already exists as a current function of “Music” in Plex but does not exist in Plexamp. Since “Music” in Plex will be going away, I’m requesting this feature be made available as a function for Plexamp. To help explain, I have included phone screenshots of how this is currently works through “Music” in Plex. It involves several steps to currently accomplish this through “Music” but it does work. Hopefully, this could be made to work easily through a couple simple clicks in Plexamp.
