Well I finally got everything working, took the pi into the studio (it’s my work streamer) but “could not connect” on the cast dialogue from any device 
.
I set plexamp up with Ethernet as I can’t use SSH on wifi.
If I plug eth back in it’s fine.
Wifi says it’s working. And it is. Can access internet.
The only thing different I did this install was set the wifi IP as it kept changing. It’s been working accessible by the ip I set.
Any ideas?
Why can’t you use SSH on WiFi? Does the same reasoning apply?
Some WiFi networks prevent device-to-device communication, only allowing connectivity out to the Internet.
I’m not sure why. The pi desktop shows two IP addresses. One for eth0 (while cable plugged in,and one for wlan0. I’ve been using ssh and plex with the wan0 IP, however only with eth plugged in.
After setting up plexamp headless v2 way back, it worked for a year or so wifi only. And my Plex server is local and accessed locally. The pi works locally, just not over wifi this time
possibly it’s not noticing the network change and/not publishing the correct address. try starting the app once the wi-fi is active and working.
(anything is a guess without logs, and i’m away from computer for the next week or so)
So I re did the static address setup and its working on reboot and i can SSH via wifi. however no internet on Pi so something is wrong. I undid the static ip lines and can still now ssh on wifi ??
However still either plexamp does not show in cast list or when it does i get the big red “cannot connect to remote player.” message. either on wifi or Eth
I can cast from the plexamp headless web xxx.xxx.x.xx:32500 on either another device or the pi itself to plex web on another device.
What logs to i get. the pi logs or the controller logs?
