Plexamp iOS app disconnecting from headless/pi player

I’ve been using Plexamp for some time now, installed as a headless player on my raspberry pi 5. I control it through the iOS app, but get frustrated that the connection to my headless player constantly drops in the app and I have to reconnect virtually every time I want to either change tracks or adjust the volume, etc. Is there a trick to keep the iOS app connected to a headless player, and not default to the iOS player? (If I use the web player from the pi there aren’t connection issues, but I prefer the interface of the app…it is a nice app after all…)

Thanks…

Please provide Plexamp logs. Without these it’s close to impossible to debug anything.

To answer your question, there’s no trick. It should stay connected even across killing the app. Most likely culprit is networking.

I’m not sure what is the best way to share these. Please advise. I can resend.

Thank you!

These logs are from my phone, the previous are from my iPad. I can’t seem to find logs for my headless player.

Logs for headless player are located at: ~/.cache/Plexamp/log/Plexamp.log".

Here are the headless logs. Thanks for your time and help!

OK, I see the issue:

What’s happening is the phone is disconnecting any time it loses WiFi (which makes some sense).

Ha! So not a Plexamp issue at all. I had know idea that my phone was disconnecting from WiFi so often… I’ll look elsewhere to fix this. Sorry to waste your time, but thank you for your help!

Just a quick follow up, in case this helps someone else. It seems iOS has this annoying feature called “WiFi assist” which may or may not be enabled by default, I don’t remember. As far as I can tell, it’s main function is to continually disconnect your headless Plexamp from your iOS Plexamp app. Turning it off seemed to do the trick!

Thanks again for the help!
