Plexamp debug logs & how to extract them

If you are encountering an issue in Plexamp, it is always useful to get log files from Plexamp.
That way the error hunt is usually much faster than with just a verbal description.

Following is a guide on how to extract those log files from Plexamp on the various platforms.

Windows

  1. Open the Windows file explorer (Win+E)
  2. Go to C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Plexamp\Plexamp\Logs
The folder C:\Users is a “hidden” folder. So you must either enable the visibility of hidden files and folders in Explorer.
Or you type in (or paste in) the folder path into the address bar of the file explorer and press Enter.
    Alternatively you can also use
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plexamp\Plexamp\Logs
  1. Please zip the log file(s) before uploading or sending them

Mac

  1. open the Finder application
  2. click on “Go to” in the top screen menu bar
  3. press and hold the “Alt” key to reveal the “Library” item in the drop down box
  4. click on the “Library” item which will open the Library folder
  5. locate and open the “Logs” folder
  6. locate and open the “Plexamp” folder

Mobile platforms (Android, iOS and derivates)

  1. open Plexamp
  2. open the “Settings” menu of Plexamp
  3. dive down into “Device”
  4. scroll to the bottom and tap on “Debugging”
  5. Tap on “Share Logs”
  6. select whichever communications channel/app you like, to transfer the logs to you

When experiencing difficulties with signing in to your account on mobile platforms:
Long press on the Sign In button.

If I have issues with plexamp headless on pi, which device do I get logs from, the controller or the pi?

Preferably both.

In case someone else is looking for it - on the pi headless version: ~/.cache/Plexamp/log

I absolutely love that you posted this here. I hate that this is the only obscure place this rather important piece of information can be found. Could something be done about that?
