Plexamp not connecting over mobile data (works fine on WiFi)

Hi everyone,

I’ve run into an issue with Plexamp on Android that started right after updating my Plex Media Server.

Before the update, everything was working as expected , I could connect to my server using Plexamp both on WiFi and mobile data without any problems. However, since the update, Plexamp only works when I’m connected to WiFi. As soon as I switch to mobile data, it fails to connect to the server and just keeps loading or doesn’t reach it at all.

What’s confusing is that the server itself is up and running normally, and remote access appears to be properly configured. I can even access it under certain conditions, but Plexamp specifically seems to have trouble when using mobile data.

I haven’t made any changes to my network, firewall, or ISP setup, so the only relevant change was the Plex Media Server update.

I’m wondering if something changed in how Plexamp handles remote connections, or if this could be related to ports, relay behavior, or something specific to mobile networks.

Has anyone experienced something similar after updating the server?

Any ideas or suggestions would be really helpful.

Having the same issue as op

I have been having the same issue, and have tried many, many approaches to resolving it. PlexAmp and Plex work fine over WiFi, I’m logged into Plex but simply cannot find server or content when using Remote Access. Started with new update. Is there anyone onboard?

Having the same issues as the original post. I have checked everything as well. Glad it’s not just me and it’s a Plex issue. Was driving me crazy trying to fix this.

Same issue here. No connection with all Plex apps on my phone when not connected to local wifi. Workaround is setting up a VPN connection from my phone to my router but that was never needed before in my setup.

Same issue. No response from anyone, feels like the whole ecosystem of plex has collapsed.

I was happy to be able to replace Spotify, but with this surprise from Plex, things are complicated. :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Hmmm, a restart of the Plex media server solved the issue for me. If you didn’t try that then give it a try.
