Plex Media Server: Version 1.42.2.10156

TL;DR - Lyrics on PlexAmp do not appear to work. I can get them to work in PlexWeb, but the buttons do not show up in PlexAmp v4.12.4 on iOS at all.

I ditched my legacy PMS (OS issues and general headache of trying to port everything over) and over the Christmas holiday built a new media server. I cannot confirm if this was working with PlexAmp on the previous server, but I mention it for the fact that this is a net new build. I do remember in the old Plex app (ā€œall in oneā€ before the forced divorce of the apps) that it did work.

I frustratingly futzed around quite a bit today trying to get Lyrics to work - I assumed after reading this article: Automatic Lyrics from LyricFind | Plex Support that I had the wrong metadata agent (because the article doesnā€™t mention that it appears to be embedded in the Plex Music agent) and couldnā€™t find the options listed here: Metadata Agents | Plex Support because they are ā€˜legacyā€™ and have gone through some updates since that article.

Should lyrics be working on PlexAmp? Automatic Lyrics from LyricFind | Plex Support seems to indicate this SHOULD be workingā€¦ but I canā€™t tell if it is a reference to the old unified app or that the PlexAmp app should show lyrics. Help?

The option to show ( or hide) lyrics is in the menu via the dots on bottom of screen.

Fair - the complication is that in the ā€œAutomatic Lyrics fromā€ article it has a screenshot:

That doesnā€™t have it hidden behind the ā€¦

My troubleshooting was also complicated as I went back and forth songs were playing in the background and when I hit the ā€¦ on one device it was missing, and on another it workedā€¦ which was an issue for there being 2 different songs and one of them didnā€™t have lyrics. Comparing Song to Song across iOS devices - they had lyrics. But yesā€¦ as @Tony_T suggests, ā€œhidingā€ it is an unattractive and confusing ā€˜featureā€™.

oh that screenshot is from the web app not Plexamp. Iā€™ll ask folks to update screenshots.
