Hi I know plexamp is still early but I have a few suggestions which would actually make me switch from spotify.
Be able to change the menu down the bottom to roughly a playlist browser and podcast browser. Now I do understand the layout at the moment but it is hard to navigate as I have to search for everything. With something like spotify I go to my profile select podcasts and select episodes. Spotify then shows their release in chronological order and I can download them from there with one click. I don’t have to type which makes the UI very easy. The playlist thing isn’t an issue it’s just most people would be used to that but your home tab allows people to see their playlists and get to them.
With mix builder make it so you could add a song.
Have podcasts automatically download when released whether it be to the phone or server.
Add cast support to either most smart tv’s, sonos, alexa and chromecast.
A widget to simply skip, play/pause and shortcut to the app.
The first one is a major problem for me I just can’t switch to plexamp which I want to but the inconvenience is too much.
Hey @Acronis95. Thanks for the suggestions! Some of these are already on the list. I’m not understanding what you mean by “Be able to change the menu down the bottom”. Is this referring to customizing the tabs? Also, if you play playlists, check out the RECENT PLAYLISTS and you can play them from the home screen in Plexamp. Thanks.
the regular plex app, supports podcasts and browsing playlists and media much easier.
plexamp isn’t intended to replace the regular plex app, its intended to streamline/simplify to play music.
mixbuilder, you can always enqueue a specific song, but mixbuilder is currently based on artist metadata/relations, whether or not track level mixes ever show up is unknown (like the plex mix of old).
I don’t know if podcast support/downloading will be something for the future, again the regular plex app already covers this functionality.

what kind of widget? what os/device are you using? there are already play controls on the player screen, and windows tray icon has controls you can click.
oh, I assume you mean like for ios/android, a widget for the home screen or side bar ?
Yeah I know but podcasts on the plex app is janky and doesn’t work very well at all I actually have to run my own custom script to auto-download and import into my plex library tagging it as a podcast. I’m just putting a suggestion out there because just better podcast support and UI which is great as it is at the moment (I’m not expecting anything really plex does great work) would make me not use spotify and only plex. But it just can’t replace my music player currently and I’m sure a few of these things could be deal-breakers for a few people.
Yes I do mean for the homescreen or side bar (I may try to make my own otherwise).
I do actually appreciate all that plexamp brings and I do like the app a lot because it enables me to use the music on my server a lot easier. It’s a great experience and I have very high hopes for it to go very far.
