Plexamp Not Showing Waveforms - Tracks Imported into Plex on August 16th

Server: Version 1.28.1.6104
Mac Plexamp: 4.3.0
Android Plexamp: 4.3.0

This has me scratching my head. I imported a few CDs on August 16th some of them have analyzed just fine and the waveform is showing and some have not. I can’t figure out what is going on.

The file folder for one of the albums Twenty One Pilots I imported on that day on my server is showing August 12th for the individual files and August 16 for the whole folder? And Plex is showing me 17 Days ago which puts that at August 15th or 16th depending on if today is counted or not. But that one doesn’t show any waveforms.

Looking at another track I imported on the same day Thirty Seconds To Mars and that one shows a waveform as it should.

I have sonic analysis set in my library.

And my library settings are as follows:

Any help in getting all my waveforms and analysis done would be appreciated.

In the morning (after your scheduled tasks have completed), please post a full set of server logs.

Will do.

Good Morning! Direct Messaged You My Logs. I did a quick check just now and the track from yesterday artist: twenty one pilots, track: ride Album: Live From Brooklyn. Still showing no waveform.

Hello!

Has this issue been resolved, as I am having exactly the same problem?

I can’t say precisely within the last month it occurred, but I’ve also lost what seems a majority of the waveforms from my collection, and consequently the ‘sweet fades’ no longer works.

Same settings as OP, however different platforms:
Server Vers. 1.28.2.6151
Windows Plexamp 4.4.0

As far as I can tell no. The waveforms are still missing for many of my tracks that I added weeks and now months ago. I have tried to trouble shoot it down to file type, or meta tag, or even folder structure and I can’t seem to figure out why or what is causing this.

Thanks for the reply! I can find no pattern in it either. All of the albums I’ve added in the last month are fine, then it gets really random with which albums retained the waveforms. Have the ‘Sweet Fades’ stopped working for you too?

One other thing I noticed, the albums without waveforms still have ‘Sonically Similar Albums’, which makes me think some part of the Sonic Analysis is working.

Sonic analysis and loudness analysis are two different things. You can actually force loudness analysis through the command line, as I mention in my post here.

I promise you guys it’s on our shortlist to figure out. The server should repair any missing loudness overnight and if it doesn’t, we’ll fix.

Yes sweet fades stopped working for the ones that do not have waveforms. Its totally random for me also. I found some other albums where two tracks wave forms and the others do not.

@elan Thank you for the update and for looking into this. Appreciate it.

i just saw a fix land on the server which will ensure that loudness is processed when missing in the overnight jobs. This will avoid needing to Plex Dance or anything else like that if the loudness goes missing for any reason.

Has this fix been released? The release notes for version 1.29.2.6364 mention “(Music) Existing tracks could lose loudness data and be unable to rerun the loudness analysis (#13897)”, but I’m not sure if that’s the same issue. I am on version 1.30.0.6406 and still having this issue.

Make sure you have loudness analysis on during scheduled tasks, and make sure these are running overnight.

Hi - to clarify are you saying that once these steps are taken then the server will repair the missing loudness as of today or is this something that is still being worked on and will happen in a future release?

I do have loudness scheduled to run overnight but it’s not solving the issue.

Yes, as long as you have the latest server.

We’d need more details/logs to see what’s going on if it’s not helping.

Thank. I did a “refresh metadata” on the artist and am back in business. These are singles that I grouped into an album using “Various Artist”, I updated the folder structure they were in to keep things organized and I’m pretty sure that’s when the waveform disappeared. Refreshed got it back in line
