Plexamp not working for me. Blank window

I can’t get plexamp working on my XPS 13 (9370).
Windows 10 20H2 19042.685
Version: Plexamp v3.4.0 (Even tried Plexamp versions back to 1.0)
I’ve deleted AppData\Roaming. Doesn’t help.
Runs fine on a virtual machine on the same system.
Runs fine on a different computer. Just can’t get it on my main system.

Screenshot:

do you have any content / network blocking on that machine (e.g. firewall, security apps)?

Additionally, what software do you not have on your secondary computer that is on your main computer? Check that for compatibility with PlexAmp possibly. Good luck.

Firewall and Security turned off during troubleshooting. No change.

The machine it’s not working on has been used for web development, so it has a bunch of nodejs tools installed, it’s also running WSL2 and Both Hyper-V and VMware Player. Those would be the main pieces of software that I would suspect might cause issues.

Note, I don’t know as fact but virtualization uses a lot of port forwarding so I suspect you are correct in your assessment. Tools like Plex clients do a lot to efficiently run so they may get lost when attaching streams especially on the host as you pointed out I think.

Have you tried disabling the virtual machines and see if it fixes the issue and then re-enabling one at a time to determine if there is one offending culprit? If yes, that would be great debugging step.

IMHO, I had a discussion about Plex and Docker other a guru. The key to fixing compatibility issues like this is to run all in Docker containers or VMWare style containers with Docker being more light weight. But some of this should be done by Plex developers but it is unclear whether Plex could run in Docker without a large amount of work.

I have done everything you mentioned yes. The VMs are usually off… Been trying to get plexamp working for a few months off and on. My guess is that it’s something to do with the graphics drivers, or the fact that I have a 4K monitor and two 1080 monitors… but I’ve disabled things… run compatibility mode… Created a new user on my system. Another clue is that the screenshot I posted being blank… is actually the window color on the working machine… When you expand the interface and it hasn’t resized yet… So, the interface is not being drawn on my window for some reason. Overall, this is something that one of the plexamp developers will need to fix as even if it were some software on my pc… it’s just pointing to a bug somewhere.
