PlexAmp on iOS 9.3.6

Elan, thanks for taking time to address this issue. I have the same problem as OP. I tried a hack that ultimately did not work but maybe could be tweaked to work.

From the pop-up window in Plexamp I could copy the URL of the sign-in page and message it to another device without leaving the page. I tried using a newer iPhone and a Mac as a second device to open the URL; from there I sign in as normal. On the 4S Plexamp automatically closes the sign-in page and seems as if it will start (I see the spinning progress indicator) but then quits. Plexamp shows up on the list of authorized devices but the app on the 4S continues to ask me to sign in if I open it again.

My question then. Perhaps there is an aspect to Plex authorization that I am overlooking. Is there some tweak to this idea (taking an identification token from the app on the 4S and signing in elsewhere) that could work?

Do you mean it crashes? If so, that’s probably another good indicator we should just raise the OS level and be done with it :frowning:

Right, it crashes after my sign-in attempt.

Sad, but our fault for not testing that back far. iOS 9 is ~5 year old at this point…

I just found this same issue the hard way. Disappointed as what I really need on the iPhone 4s is a lightweight music player, as that is it’s only purpose now. The full Plex app runs horribly on the old device, I thought Plexamp might have better luck.

Yet, plexamp.com still advertises iOS 8 compatibility AND my iPhone 4S has received a couple updates to the app since its release. If you don’t plan to assist plexamp in working in iOS 9, fix the app store requirements. Are you willing to refund Plex Pass for someone who purchases based on the incorrect advertising that has yet to be corrected?

Of course, the intent isn’t to deceive anyone.
