Plexamp on iOS and sharing a song query

So, I’m an Android person so forgive me

From Android plexamp I share a link to a song via email or messaging, so they receive an https:/// link but when they click the link it seems to load Plexamp in their web browser not the app?

When they share a link from iOS to me on Android, I click the link and Plexamp app loads.

So, I’m guessing there is some setting in iOS we can set to get Plexamp to open the link rather than mobile web browser?

That seems to have broken with an Xcode upgrade, we’re trying to figure out what happened.

Correction: that should work fine (just tested), it was NFC reading which broke.

It will open to browser if they didn’t have access to the item in question.

Hmmm, they have access to my music library via Plex Home.

Just have the iOS phone, so they click the link and it seems to open Safari at listen.plex.tv

At the top of the windows it shows the Plexamp logo followed by Plexamp text, on the right a OPEN button.

If you click that it opens Plexamp but just takes them to what they were last playing, not the link I shared…

Doesn’t seem right to me?

Logs might help, but that doesn’t seem right

Ok will grab some logs…

Plexamp-Logs-2023-06-09-2.zip (414.9 KB)

Could I ask for an enhancement please? :-

On Android, if Plexamp is not running (ie nothing playing) and I click on a shared link it loads Plexamp and takes me to the album the song is on, so I can’t really tell what track it is…

Would be great if it just selected the track and started playing it.

the shared track is highlighted. playing it right away seems excessive.

Sorry, but I don’t see it highlighted myself.

Here is a screenshot of what plexamp takes me to when I click on a link shared with me…

Hint, it’s not even shown as it’s a track further down the album.

I don’t think it’s excessive myself, just normal behaviour for most apps.

Edit: did the logs for iOS help at all ?

probably a black mode bug, try another theme.

traveling so can’t look at logs.

The track highlight isn’t visible with the Black theme applied, as elan theorised. This will be fixed in the next release

Hi @aubrey.wodonga
What do you think about making the highlight blinking?
I had this idea a while ago and think that this could be more visible and appealing for the receiver to click on it

For me on Android, it only takes me to the album page then tries to highlight the track (changing from black theme does let me see it highlighted).

If the track is towards the end of the album the display does not scroll there to highlight it, so you still need to take action (scroll down) to see what has been shared.

Any joy with the logs?

Guess will have to ignore share facility as iOS just opens Safari, waste of a feature :frowning:

No support?

you probably didn’t get a reply because “waste of a feature” was kind of obnoxious.

i just tested on iOS and it worked for me just fine. anyone else?

Yes it was a bit obnoxious, but out of frustration when help is offered, logs are requested and duly provided and I hear nothing else.
