Plexamp playing totally wrong song for album track!

So, I was just listening to Joni Mitchell’s album Song to a Seagull on Plexamp via Tidal source. The second album track Plexamp plays is definitely NOT Joni Mitchell or the correct song “Michael from Mountains.” I went on over to the regular Plex player and the Tidal player and they play the correct song.

What’s up with that??

UPDATE: This is happening on the Linux Plexamp 4.6.2. My Android Plexamp 4.6.1 plays the right song for track 2.

Will likely need the Plexamp logs. Does it happen with other albums as well or just this Joni Mitchell one?

How did you start Joni Mitchell playing in the first place?

This is the first time I’ve noticed this happen. I’m running the AppImage 4.6.2. I’m not familiar log files and AppImage.

I also have FlatPak of Plexamp v 4.6.1 on here and it doesn’t have the problem, if that helps.

Simply chose the album in Plexamp and selected play album arrow. First track was fine, second track was something more techno with heavy bass—definitely not Joni :astonished:

I skipped through the rest of the album tracks and they all seemed right.

As I mentioned in reply above, flatpak plexamp v 4.6.1 on same system is okay. Same with v4.6.1 on my Android phone.

So I’m only seeing the problem with v4.6.2 AppImage.

It’s almost certainly something related to TIDAL and not a Plexamp bug, but without Plexamp logs we’re just all guessing.

Plexamp.log (168.5 KB)

Tidal doesn’t have the problem. Something between this plexamp client instance (caching/corruption?) and your communication stack to tidal. See log file above…hope it helps.

There is a lot between Plexamp and TIDAL which doesn’t exist with the TIDAL app.

Your logs show Plexamp playing 3 tracks, all by Joni Mitchell, as far as it can tell:

All of the tracks are cached, so I might recommend clearing your cache (advanced settings) and re-doing the test.

Ha ha, 30 years and still getting stung by the “browser cache.” I never listened to this Joni album before on plexamp but maybe the erroneous track was something I listened to before (didn’t recognize it)…or one of the other vague mysteries of corrupted caches! Cleared cache…problem gone. Thanks!

My sense is that the identifier must have referred back to the wrong thing on TIDAL (in our cloud database of their music). Not sure why, and not sure what changed, except that we do run incremental updates nightly and then full updates weekly, so it seems at least plausible that there was a mistake which was subsequently corrected in a followup data set.

Thanks for using Plexamp!
