Plexamp pre-cache problem (maybe?)

I currently have pre-cache set to 15 songs and 2GB. Wifi quality is maximum. All of my music is FLAC (either local or TIDAL).

If I start up a radio playlist on WiFi at home, my understanding is that the next 15 songs are downloaded straight up?

The things is, if I start a playlist at home and then transfer to the car (some time later, so plenty of time to download), the files are being played at cellular quality (AAC for TIDAL and Opus for local content) within 3-4 songs on the drive.

I would have expected that at least 15 songs would play in original WiFi quality. Or am I misunderstanding something here?

It should be, but with the caveat that on iOS at least, if you have the app in the background, iOS might put it to sleep. If it’s playing music, it’ll be running and able to download queue.
