Plexamp RPI soundcard exclusive control

I’m running Plexamp on a RPI in headless which works great. However, I would also like the ability to use Squeezelite on the RPI from time to time but the Squeezelite service fails to start because Plexamp has exclusive control of the soundcard. If I stop the Plexamp service then Squeezelite can be started but this is a faff and not user friendly for others in household.

Is there a way for Plexamp to release control of the soundcard when audio is not being streamed?

yes please.

tried with to combine shairport-sync and plexamp with dmix, no luck at first try.

the previous plexamp-rpi did not lock the audio device when idle.

I’ll make a note to address this in the future, thanks!

Hi @elan,

Yes this would be great - I’ve got the same issue where I cannot use raspotify on my raspbian unless I stop the plexamp service.

Have you got any idea when you might be able to implement this?

Cheers, Bob

I second this I would also like to be able to use Roon audio interchangably with Plexamp.

Other services sound great without having exclusive access.

Thanks in advance for implementing this soon.
