Looking for advanced searching and results display options.
Plexamp is the reason I purchased a PlexPass.
I use plexamp on a windows pc, android, and ios.
I use plexamp primarily because of the autodj feature.
I am struggling with plex search.
I have a fairly large music library with many duplicate albums, songs.
They aren’t EXACT duplicates as they represent different recordings under the same name - example - columbia release, sony release, etc. There could also be cover versions of songs too. What makes them unique is their location on the server.
I’ve been using MediaMonkey forever and the control over the UI to display and sort is unmatched.
Shout out to kodimusicremote by Markus Löffler as a VERY nice interface for those using KODI.
Plexamp search results are too basic
Is there anyway to increase the amount of information displayed with search results?
Example - I want to play the DSD version of the live performance of “Roxanne” by the Police.
In MediaMonkey if I keyword search for “Roxanne” I get 71 results.
I can just sort by Bitrate and other criteria to find the version I’m looking for.
I can display any metadata value, including the source path - which will always be unique.
I can sort this list anyway I want as Mediamonkey allows cascading ordered sorting as many levels deep as you want - sort by Artist, then album, then year, then label, then bitrate, then codec, then genre, etc.
Plexamp? I just get a bunch of results in a single column showing just title + artist.
I can reduce the number of results by using a search “Roxanne police live” and get 11 results.
I have no idea on how to select the version I am looking for - DSD version.
The list of search results has no sort, or additional information I can add to display - despite having tons of space in the UI to do so.
If I search for “SO” - I’m expecting to at least find Peter Gabriel’s 1986 release.
What’s interesting is the search results under album show additional information
I can now select the DSD or FLAC version - but I don’t know the year.
Is it the original, remaster, re-release, which label, what year, what format?
Searching artist, then the list of releases are sorted by year as well as the codec information - helpful, but still not ideal.
I want more control to explore my library and find the hidden gems.
