I have enjoyed using this app for a while. But the one thing that always frustrates me about it is that when I go to do a search, I have to make an extra click to engage the search box. Generally, I would expect that after I hit the search icon that I can start typing in my query. But instead, that button takes you to another window that itself has a search box in it, which you have to click on to start typing.
It would be better if the search box was engaged the moment you hit that search icon. I feel that this is what people would want 99% of the time when they hit the search button. I’m not even sure what the other items on that search page are for. But those should be secondary to that search box.
Any ways, that’s just my suggestion. If you disagree, respond and tell me why. I’d be interested in hearing a different point of view.
I use the app on 3 platforms, iPhone, Macbook, and on Windows 10. All three versions have the same behavior. An extra click is required to get to the search box to type a search.
I asked, because on mobile there is a real reason for the extra tap, because we have a bunch of stuff on that screen (aural fixations, recent searches) that we don’t want to hide immediately when you go to the screen.
On desktop, you could focus immediately, and then hide those on first letter.
Ah I see. So just playing with it for a few minutes on my iPhone, that extra step isn’t as noticeable. But while working on my laptop I do tend to go and do a search and start typing as soon as I hit that search icon, not realizing I need to make one more click onto the search box to focus on it.
