Just got the latest Plexamp with a shuffle button on the now playing screen. It’s disabled and I haven’t found a way to actually enable it yet. Tried playing an album. Adding another one to the queue. Button disabled.
What should it be doing exactly? I was hoping I could add 2 or 3 albums to the queue (without starting playback) and then shuffle them all. No add to queue option until I actually play something which kind of defeats the purpose.

Well I get it the way Plex explains it in the article but I don’t see much use for explicit vs implicit queues I guess. Shuffle button should just shuffle the queue. Add two albums? Shuffle button shuffles the queue. Add 3 playlists? Shuffle. Add an album and a playlist? Shuffle. Older music players I’ve used did that so I guess I’m just used to it.
It’s a minor gripe, I still use Plexamp every day. Just a weird quirk based on how I listen to music.

Yep… this is how we all expect shuffle to work.
It’s a huge tease to add a shuffle button to a queue but disable it…it seems that you can only shuffle stuff you always could?
…So I’ve explicitly put my queue in a certain order,…then… I explicity shuffle… then I explicitly unshuffle…back to my explicit order… place in queue at current playing song.
( Shuffle : transitive verb - “to mix in a mass confusedly - jumble”)
…As a user I can explicitly press the shuffle button so that I can jumble the order of tracks in the current queue.
I was so hopefull when i saw the tweet with the shuffle button…Is real shuffle of the queue a consideration?
That’s kind of what I was trying to say. I think Plex is trying to be too smart for its own good. Don’t assume what I want to do with the queue (explicit vs implicit). If you give me a shuffle button let me actually use it.
Totally agree. If you have to read something to understand implicit vs explicit…but you dont have to read something to understand “shuffle”, which one will users find more usefull?.
Its not that the explanations of explicit vs implicit dont make sense at all…it’s what i would expect to happen via those Ui comands if I thought about it. Its just the rules created around those labels (implicit, explicit) that doesnt alow one label to be shuffled, that makles no sense to me.
…because there is no way, bar saving a playlist that I will never remember or want to play again, to add a bunch of music to a queue and shuffle it…or am I still missing something?
Should the shuffle button follow the Colorize Player Elements? It stands out as it is.
