I use(d) Prism for offline playback of my Plex library. Prism, when on my home WiFi, can literally download tunes at 35MB/sec to my iPhone. However, I just tried Plexamp, and the download is pathetically slow. In the time Prism could download 20GB of tracks, Plexamp is barely at 1GB. These are FLAC tracks. Why is Plexamp 20x slower downloading than Prism, on the same WiFi network? I have music quality set to maximum, so no transcoding should be taking place.
First of all, make absolutely sure it’s not transcoding. Play a download and see if it’s Opus or FLAC.
I find downloads to be super fast over here (just tried and it was ~30MB/sec).
Elan, Thanks for the quick personal reply! I just double checked, and all downloads are in fact FLAC. Is there any further troubleshooting I can perform? I experience the same slow downloads in the main Plex app as well, but I’m hooked on Plexamp for music.
