issue persists with ver. 4.2.2
Since there is no news, I want to detail the problem with some photos taken tonight between 7.30 and 8.30 pm.
Everything is OK in this image.
On the phone, the track is paused and also on AA (yellow icon in the bottom right-hand corner).
At this point I open the Google Podcast app on AA, pause it and go to dinner.
An hour later I get back in the car then plug in AA and regularly Google Podcast reappears, I move to Plexamp and this appears
No it is not the same picture as before if you look closely the paused track icon is missing on AA while on the phone everything is as before.
It is the same issue reported 3 months ago.

The reason why there was no news is probably because this thread turned into a different issue 
Are you positive this isn’t normal behavior? Once another audio app has control of the session, Plexamp must relinquish it. Do you see similar behavior if you do that in the opposite direction?
I had noticed this issue looked like it was fixed like a month ago but seems to be happening again.

I’ve been using AA for years and the only app with paused tracks issue was the old Plex 
However, I am sure that an app very similar to Plexamp in the same situation allows you to retrieve the paused track in the “Recent Plays” folder.
Plexamp also does this, but restarts the album from the beginning…
Just to clarify, the issue is that the “now playing” button doesn’t appear, when starting Plexamp inside Android Auto?
If you look at the phone, is it showing the player screen all ready to go in the paused state?
Exactly… as in the second picture
to start playback I have to play from the phone
We’ll have a look once our Android expert is back from vacation
