Plexamp Starts By Itself

Randomly, the app will open by itself and stay in the notification centre. I can’t tell what is causing it. I have the latest public server and amp app.

When this happens, please upload a log (Settings > Advanced > Debugging), that may tell us a bit more about what’s happening. If you’re advanced with Android a logcat may help as well.

When you say “open by itself” are you sure the app is running, or is it just the notification which stays up?

Also, please provider Android version/device details.

Sorry for late reply @elan

I have attached log file.

It is the media play notification that comes up and stays in the notification centre until I clear it.

Android V10 OnePlus A6003

thanks

I have had to delete the app for the moment. Is there an update coming to fix this @elan?

the log is for the previous release. have you tried v3.4.0? if you can still reproduce there, i’d be curious to see.

it might be that it’s related to google’s media browser service connecting to get some info. having it “running” in the background shouldn’t take up any significant resources.

@elan Same deal there. The notification keeps on popping up still.

we’ll have a look. are you the sort who is willing to play with an APK?

can you post debug logs right after you see it running (and logcat if you can get it)?

one more thing, try playing with the new Android setting around the notification: Settings > Sound & Vibration > Media and see if it makes a difference.

any chance you’d be able to try an APK? DM me your email address if so.

Hi @elan

This has now started happening again. More frequently now.

Has something changed?

Not that I know of. Only the OS can start us, so I think the key is figuring out why the OS is doing that. Able to get a logcat?

Doesn’t let me, says the request contained no data (android)

i think you need either rooted or dev mode phone.

the issue is that we can’t easily see why the app was started, our logs just show that we were…a logcat might show more data.

OK. Cheers. I will not be able to provide you with the requested logs then. Is there another way of doing this?

Maybe you can tell me something related to the notification appearing? Are you connecting to a car or bluetooth device? Anything else? The system shouldn’t just start the app willy nilly.

Aside: why do you care? It’s suspended in the background not doing anything

It seems to be everytime it is connected to power or change power state.

also I care because the notification comes up each and every time, multiple times a day.

OK, that’s pretty interesting. Do you have the inclination to try some debug APKs I can provide where we can add some logs and try to figure out what’s going on?

Also, do you have Plexamp in any sort of special battery/energy category? We’d found that can cause adverse behavior as well along the lines of what you’re seeing (the system feels bad that it shut the app down so it kicks it off when it’s not on battery).

sure I can try some debug apks.

Not that I can see just the normal android setting which doesn’t affect other apps.

what normal android setting is that, and how do you have it configured for plexamp?
