Plexamp - Unable to load local data

Hello –

I very often have the problem where Plexamp can’t see/load local data. I have my music library on my laptop, Plex Server is running, and at times Plexamp just doesn’t respond when I try to view albums, artists, whatever. I get the “Whoops” error or the"Unable to Load Data. This makes me sad" error.

Only way to make it work is to shut down plexamp, shut down plex server, and restart both. Super frustrating!

Here are the latest lines from the log file.

Please please please don’t just paste a part of the log in. Upload the whole log so we can help you. Connection testing failed for New MacBook implies it wasn’t able to reach. Shutting down client and server ensures (a) server publishes latest address to cloud and (b) client reads it. However, it’s indicative of a bigger networking issue.

Hello Elan –

I have uploaded the entire log below. I don’t quite understand how it can be a network issue if Plexamp, Plex Server and the music files are all local on the same machine. There should be no network issues, right?

It’s unable to reach the server at this address (192.168.0.18). I’m not sure why that’s the only address on which it’s available, seems like a weird networking setup where it’s completely disconnected from the Internet?

As the developer, you would know better as to why it’s looking for that address.

When this problem occurs, I am always connected to the internet. But again, as everything is local, why should it even need the internet?

Might it have to do with if the network changes somehow? Like, if I go from wireless internet to running off a LAN cable?

As the person with that IP address, you’d know (a) if it’s valid and meaningful and (b) why an app couldn’t reach it (some sort of firewall??)

Start by making sure your server allows remote access and you’re signed into it.
