Plexamp "Various Artist" sorting question

So have a sorting question. I would like to be able to have all artists that appear on “Various Artist” and ost albums to NOT show up in Artist search. I have tons of VA albums but would like to just keep Artist search to those artists I have albums for, and just keep all music in compilations only searchable under Various Artist and Soundtrack, etc…

Is this something that can be done in Plex? Or would this have to be achieved by altering Metadata of the file? And even if I do change metadata would plex still create and “atrist” folder for them?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You could place those various artist albums in a separate library and configure that library to be excluded from global search. I’m using this for e.g. some OST albums I got myself over the years.

Pro: Albums no longer mess up your search / library
Contra: When shuffling the library / playing a library radio / …, those tracks will no longer be in the mix
