I often play Plexamp via airplay from my phone to my stereo (Sonos). At times I will switch the playing music to a raspberry pi headless install (headphone setup). The airplay target might have the volume at 40% or so. The Rpi target is at 100% because I have a headphone amp plugged into it with a physical volume knob.
When I switch, Plexamp ramps the volume up to 100% on my stereo before switching. This is… loud. I think as it’s connecting to the Rpi, it ramps up the airplay volume while the music is still playing for 1/2 second or so, then the audio switches over to the new target.
I’m not sure what the solution is or even exactly what is going on to describe it in more detail. However, it would be nice if when switching from an airplay target to a different target, audio played at the right volumes without messing with them. I’d be totally fine with pausing the music, switching targets, then unpausing instead of trying to be seemless.
