Essentially where we use PleXBMC, the preference is to have the native client, but it’s not possible (or doesn’t provide access to video that xbmc plugins)
Cases such as: Linux, embedded devices, the origional Xbox, etc are where PleXBMC is used most. Also, there are some cases where people want XBMC plugins that don’t have a Plex counterpart (PseudoTV, IceLibrary, Navi-X, etc)
When building a client-server setup and you aren’t rooted in XBMC, go ahead with all Plex (imo) 
@jackandjohn, many thanks for the quick reply. That’s exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I’m sure others have similar or different opinions, and I’ll be open to hearing them.
OT: I don’t want to hijack this thread by any means, but if you have any details/info on how your OpenELEC testing on the Raspberry is doing (links, etc.), I’d love to hear about that. Maybe PM me or something?

I’m curious how the “Always Transcode?” option works when disabled in PlexBMC (2.0 beta 4). I was hoping it would transcode any remote Plex Media Server content (myplex) and directly play content from any local Plex Media Server however I’m finding with the option disabled it plays content directly from remote servers as well as local servers. At least from a bandwidth standpoint it appears that way. I will dig through my server logs to see what PMS is doing but what are other people’s experiences with this option and remote servers? Any thoughts hippojay?
I absolutely LOVE this add-on. It enabled me to keep the Plex backend, which is fantastic, but switch my frontends to XBMC, which for my needs, has become superior. Only one problem I have is that I can’t get anything in the queue to play. Items show up, and when clicked, they ask what resolution to play in, and then either nothing, or a “one or more items couldn’t be played” message. Does anyone have any ideas? I’m using the latest Plex server and OpenElec XBMC on an Intel Atom D525 CPU with NVIDIA ION GPU.
Interesting you say that, because I have an OpenELEC/XBMC-based Atom/Nvidia ION mini-PC in my basement that I need to “polish up”. It has been used for uPNP access to my media until now, but I’d love to make it more robust and easier to use. Sounds very similar.
Slightly OT: I have never gotten the thing to be able to “standby” or otherwise power-down properly, mainly I think, because there was no way to get it to wake on a specific IR command. It was “all-or-nothing” in that you could get it to “wake on IR”, but that meant any IR signal flying past it bound for the TV or cablebox or dvd player would wake it too…so it was virtually worthless as an option.
If it is a USB IR dongle, there is often a "Wake on USB" option in the BIOS. My Acer has that, but I do not use it. I let the machine run so that it's ready when I need it. It uses so little power that it would only be the difference of a few bucks a year.
So, is the queue working for most people then?
Would it be major work to add support for credentials (username and password) for local servers? These are supported on other clients and would bring parity to PlexBMC.
Any suggestions on how to get any of the skins working on Raspbmc?
Currently I get the following error when trying to active a skin from zip file:
DEBUG: Addon skin.confluence.plexbmc requires xbmc.gui version 2.11 which is not available
- all the Plexbmc skins under the repository show as “broken” (missing dependency).

I jut want to say I love this app and I have it working just fine on two windows 7 computers but I cannot get it to work on my Raspberry Pi using Raspbmc rc4. Reading through here it sounds like other have got it working but for the life of me I cannot (thoguh I just ot he Pi the other day and I haven’t really touched linux much so that may or may not be part of my problem) . When I turn on bonjour discovery I get a bonjour error asking if bonjour is installed and when I turn off bonjour discovery it I just get a script error. I think I’ll go back and try 1.9.9.4 to see if that helps as well. My hope is to get this running on my Pi like it is on my pcs.
Once again love the app.

If you turn off bonjour (something I have done) then you need to add the IP address of the server you want to connect to. :)

RaspBMC RC5 broke the SkyGo plugin running through PleXBMC. Following the instructions on the raspbmc forum to revert to an earlier XBMC worked!

I tried using a YouTube video, it gave me quality options but didn't play anything.

I am using OpenELEC on Raspberry Pi with PlexBMC and it finally playing all of my 1080p videos without any hiccups. There were some issues with DTS audio in 1080p movies but they are solved by slight overclocking of the Raspberry Pi. Everything else has seemed to play just fine through PlexBMC.

I am using the modified Quartz skin and have a few favorites added to the sections. On Deck always refreshes if I go through the Plex hierarchy, but if I use he saved favorite (from the PleXBMC hierarchy), On Deck displays unrefreshed.
Any ideas?

I am having the same issue. I have enabled logging but am not sure where to look to find the output?
(I am running XBMCBuntu on my Dell laptop via a USB pendrive).
