Using 3.1.1 for some days now and it worked great. Now I stumbled upon some new issue.
I’ve got an MKV with an external SRT-file on the server. When I use the PMS-Web-Interface to activate the subtitles for that movie “seeking”/“resuming from last position” does not work anymore in PleXBMC. When I disable the subtitle, all works fine.
The movie start’s fine when playing from the beginning with subtites enabled. Subtitles are then displayed correctly. They are put into the video by PMS if I see it corrcectly. Is that because I use always transocde?.
I tried 3.1.2 but it didn’t fix the issue.
I tried “Plex Control” and “XBMC Control” in the PleXBMC playback settings.

if that XML does not contain any movies then I believe everything is working just fine in Plexbmc. PLEX client (from the screenshot) is obviously pulling some other list, from somewhere else, (most probably first 20 or so movies listed by date they were added to library) in order to prevent MediaStream showing an empty shelf. Those items are probably not available through standard API.
I was just confused as I was switching between Plex and XBMC, trying to skin and noticed that Plex shelf is populated for movies, while it is empty in Plexbmc. Since I was testing with the last version of your script, where you've fixed shelf glitches I started to look for the problem elsewhere.
Sorry if my laziness made you think something is wrong with Plexbmc. It seems that I often tend to use fewer words as possible...
Ah ha - ok. There are some other calls that will bring back an icon, I think these are mostly myplex ones though. But yes, it could just be the last movies added to that section - that data is available.
I think all the data is available over the API, the problem is that it's mostly undocumented.
Scot, thank you a lot for the info! I am glad I am not too far off. I plan on putting this setup together soon and running with it. It seems this setup and a few r-pies might be what I have been looking for. Are the r-pies powerful enough to direct play with PleXBMC installed and no transcoding?
Lol... it is the default skin for the Plex Media Center and Plex Home Theater (beta/plexpass) clients. Unless you are referring to a different skin ;)
Hi Mike…I don’t use the Rpi’s sorry so I wouldn’t what exactly what it can and cannot do…I would tend to think it should be fine…I use (mainly) a few Zotac AD11’s and recently a Intel NUC (not a lot bigger than an aTV2)…I have 6 TV’s scattered around the place and also have a few aTV’s (Jailbroken with Plex and also XBMC Frodo) and a ION2 box…without a doubt the Intel NUC is the best…

First of all, thanks for the great work.
I have a problem using the PleXBMC helper with the IOS remote app. When launching a media file with the IOS remote, PleXBMC sees the name as “file” and not the real name. This prevents finding correct subtitles. If the file is launched directly in PleXBMC, the file name is correct.

I checked and couldn't reproduce - I started a transcoded movie with subtitles enabled from an external file and was able to skip forward and backwards. There was some delay, but this is because the server has to start transcoding again and build up a buffer. I also tried resuming which worked too.
I didn't try fast forwarding - but with a transcoded stream that's always going to cause problems.
If you want to send me an xbmc.log with PleXBMC debug turned on, then that might help me. I might also need XBMC debugging turned on, as this then adds a lot if video processing information.
I feel like I’m going crazy, I can never get the PleXBMC Helper to work no matter how many updates I install. I’ve enabled it, disabled it, made sure the XBMC login (?) has the exact same name/pass, I even tried with no pass). I’ve force quited the Plex.app, rebooted my PMS. Everything has a static IP address.
All of theses things are on the latest version as far as I can find. I didn’t try PleXBMC 3.1.1 beta however, should I?
The Plex.app on my iPhone/iPad shows my MacBook Pro as a player no problem but never sees PleXBMC as an option.
PS I just tried to set all of this up again on a fresh Xbian install & still nothing.
So i have searched and can’t find. I have done this in the past for plexbmc but can’t find out how to do it. How do I freaking get plexbmc to auto launch when i start xbmc? I just got a arctic box and have openelec with xbmc on it and can’t remember how to do this. Any help?

It’s the bizarre bug where a python module is unable to see the data passed in. It’s intermittent, and I currently have no way of tracking it or fixing it.
Best bet is to reboot. This is a very rare issue though (which makes it all the more difficult to fix).
Just to let you know that I've fixed this now - so will be in the next release. This also fixes the same issue when playing back something from the shelf (incomplete metadata). I hope to get this out this week.

I'm using on my RasPi Rasbmc and PleXBMC. I transcode all movies at the PMS. After viewing round 80 Minutes the RasPi began to buffer. Than all 30 seconds I think.
Am I the only one with this problem?
