The UI is just too perfect. Every PHT skin I've tried since wasn't me. I want the PlexConnect UI for PHT, but it doesn't exist. Now I can't enjoy PHT because of that, and I can't really enjoy PlexConnect anymore either because the ATV3 hardware is so long in the tooth now. I can't win.
Damn you, PlexConnect devs. You made something that's just a little too good. :P
Pff... when reading that headline, I really imagined worse - though I didn't see any way how PlexConnect could have broken the rest of your Plex environment.

Same here. I'm chasing a dragon now. I've purchased every streaming box out there to try to find something that works even close to as well. Android TV, Amazon Fire, Roku, Chromecast... Can't hold a candle to all the features/ease of use of PlexConnect.
Now if we could only jailbreak a ATV3 and bake it in... The perfect plex client.
Plexconnect is cool, however it is the only client (ATV3) that freezes during playback from the server!. Sometimes it will start playing again, most times, i need to exit then go back into the library!. Never used to do this, same setup!
I must agree Plexconnect is absolutely fantastic and by far the best Plex client to date. I have tried all of them believe me lol When and if we see an Apple TV 4th generation my hopes is that it is able to be jailbroke fast and Plexconnect ported over. Although my AppleTV 3 has been perfect so far and no issues with Plexconnect I would certainly like to see a hardware refresh. An A7 chip with at least 1GB of system ram would be a good start. I would also like to see a new and improved remote, maybe something not so sharp edged and cold in the hand. A few more useful buttons would also help. 4K support would also be a bonus, although I don’t really need that and I’m not even sure if PMS would handle it in its present state. But definitely do want support for H265 for maximum quality minimum file size and future proof.
I will pick up the new Apple TV the day it’s released but until Plexconnect is running on it … It would just be something to play with. Thank you to everyone involved in making Plexconnect possible. I cringe knowing what my other options are without it.

Because now your server will need to transcode video into mp4 format, which requires processing power (ie. a NAS most likely won't be enough to do this).
PHT does not require transcoding and will play most (if not all) formats without trancoding.
