Ok it stopped working again
2013-06-27 8:50:35.103 PM WindowServer[92]: [cps/setfront] Failed setting the front application to PlexConnect, psn 0x0-0xbe0be, securitySessionID=0x186a5, err=-13066No other logs or where can i look, going back to terminal for now. :(
Sorry it's not working out. I've had mine crash on me a couple times but i've always been successful quitting the app and reopening.
I would like to say that I am basically just using these apps as a stop-gap until there is an official version of PlexConnect. Personally, I have had more than a positive experience doing it this way, but I understand that there are a lot of different variables that can come into play here which is probably why some people are having issues. Put bluntly, if these work for you then great. If they don't, I'm sorry that I can't help you. :( I'm going to keep updating these apps with the latest builds until PlexConnect can be finalized. Thanks everyone!
Dan
This one is better than what I was getting using terminal. When using terminal I was not able to access my Music and now I am able. Although so far I am not able to successfully play Channels , its still a hit and miss.
Why would the wrapped code give better results than the sources? Are you sure you ran the latest code in your terminal?
Dan,
I appreciate the work you have put in. My comments were not a criticism by any means, I was just curious why running the app would work differently than running the code via terminal or via AppleScript.
Thanks

Dan, thanks no need to be sad. I love the idea. Can you build a log so we can help you figure out whats going on? Maybe it could help.
If not, no worries.
I really appreciate the time you have taken to do this.
Are you running different versions of Python?
now that's what i'm talking about !
ok a few things after i downloaded:
1. it'll be really awesome if the app will work on the status bar and not take that place in the dock
2. if there will be check for updates button when you update the app to the laste build the app will be perfect
thanks !

You misunderstand what the OP has done.
It is just a wrapper, using e.g. Platypus, with an icon added to give you the look of a native OSX application.
The kind of features you are asking for require either a cross platform toolkit (which might lead to ugliness) , forking the code for each individual OS (creating fragmentation) or the creation of 'helper' applications for each OS (needs dev for each platform or some kind of cross platform code). There is also the issue of removing the need to input an admin password after each boot, code to allow the application to run as a daemon (possibly changes to logging to help this as well) and a few other things.
It doesn't mean it will not happen ;)
Are you running different versions of Python?
I have 2.7.4 active for local user and 2.6 for the system (OSX 10.6.8)
@dontthroworanges what version of Python are you running on the machine you packed with?

Running on 2.7.1 (OSX 10.7.5)
Hmm i wonder if that is the issue.
@institute11 and @jasonfrovich what happens if either of you create your own wrapper by using Platypus, does it give the same errors?

I tried , its a little over my head, but the terminal script works just fine.

damm, that's suck.
if i'll tell the app to open at login it won't ask me for password ?
i hope we can solve this, thanks !
Hi Dan,
Appreciate your work :D I do think its odd that there isnt an offical app, I am sure a dev could knock something up in the blink of an eye!

See post 30 ;)
See post 30 ;)
I read it...I also read it before I posted my comments.
Not sure what you are getting at.
Are you saying you are an experienced dev or have spoken to one about this? You post doesn't elude to either.
I have Plex media serving running on my Mac, I downloaded PlexConnect but how do you start it?
