Are you saying you are an experienced dev or have spoken to one about this? You post doesn't elude to either.
I am one of the three people behind PlexConnect and was pointing out the reasons why we do not have it as a standard Mac applications at the moment (although remember it runs on more than OSX).
I have Plex media serving running on my Mac, I downloaded PlexConnect but how do you start it?

i suggest you to follow the guide in post 7 here:
after understanding it it's really easy. and whenever there's an update you just switch the folder content to the new files .. and he made the script very smart-if it can't find atv or pms it'll just keep looking till finding it.
and make it seamless with dock dodger ..

If you go to About PlexConnect in the menubar, the date of the build is in place of a version number.

Anybody else experience this when running the PlexConnect app?
I threw together these .App packages to make things a little easier for myself. They just a wrapped version of the various scripts that can be found here. No special sauce or anything like that. Also, I'm not a developer so unfortunately I won't be able to help if you run into trouble.
Just drag it anywhere on your system with Plex Media Server running and then start the app.
You still need to point the DNS IP on the AppleTV to your computer that is running Plex.
I hope this helps for some people who for whatever reason aren't familiar or comfortable with Terminal.

Thanks Dan...this helps heaps for a novice like me...I am techy enough but dont know enough to write code..so this is fantastic...works well with my ATV3...disconnects sometimes, but hey, I just reconnect...so all is good.

My doubt is whether it is possible, do update the app to the latest build of PlexConnect, directly in the application without having to wait for the application developer to do this. I believe that because the app developer has to actually configure the app each update, there is no way for the app to automatically update directly from Baa's github updates.

Any chance this app will Work with the added use of the server setup needs? I have a Mac Mini hosting the PMS stuff at my house and i know there were some extra steps involved in the setup.
