I have a DS213. I can't play any video with plex connect. It's because of transcoding ?
Will i be able to play videos with this plex connect?
I did notice one issue however. When first starting up the NAS, Plexconnect can't see Plex and Appletv doesn't work properly. I think it's because as Plex is starting up, Plexconnect starts up before Plex has a chance to load. I noticed this because the log file in plexconnect states that a server was not found. If I wait about 2 minutes, I can stop and start Plexconnect and it sees the plex server. Maybe that might help some people.

I have instlalled the last Version of Plex Media Server (Plexpass - Version 0.9.8.2.82-b32b611 | on a DS 712 +) and installed the Phyton by Synocommunity and your newest (v. 1.04 ) Plexconnect.
Then i changed the DNS Adress on the ATV3 and click on the Trailer App but it says me that "Trailer is not available at the Moment" (I have a German Text).
Then i just have install your Plexconnect v. 1.01 and then click again and look this is working.
Maybe i just did a Mistake or is this a Bug?

I want to check the Verisons 1.02 and 1.03, but i didn't have these Versions.
Maybe the Developer of the SPK (Plexconnect for Syno) is reading that and give us a answer if this is a Bug or we do somehing wrong?

Please report what goes wrong with 0.1-4 spk, doesn't it start up? What is in the Log (Package Center->PlexConnect->View Log link)?
or is it that ATV can not make a connection? Also Report what DSM version you use, I only tested on 4.2
Perfect. This works perfectly. Photo Station, Surveillance Station, DNS Server and Plexconnect all working in harmony. It's amazing how in this day and age that you guys can work together to make all of this work in harmony.
My setup is complete. I have an Acer AC100 Quad Core Xeon e3-1260l server running Xpenology (Synology DSM 4.2) perfectly on some serious hardware (if synology would make something more powerful than an Atom Processor, and less than $1000, I'd jump all over it).
4x3TB drives gives me 9TB of protected storage. Plex with PlexSync and a lifetime membership allows me to have all my content accessible from nearly any device I have, Plexconnect allows me to use my apple tv, DNS server (and Tomato on my router), allows me to manage DNS resolution and Crashplan allows me to backup everything to my other server at the office. Everything works perfectly with the odd corrupt video file taking down Plex if accessed through Plexconnect. This is just unbelievable.
Hello I have synology rackstation and I am disastisfied with the hardware as well. I do like the easy to use DSM software. Although If i need to I am well familiar with ubuntu linux. I would love to build my own haswell server based off a supermicro hardware.
Is this stable? Is this community well supported. Do you have to run certain hardware. Can you do updates for the packages the same way?
Just further to my last post, things are not stable, today I cannot get the 0.1-1.spk file to run. It starts, but stops pretty much straight away, so trailers is not redirected from the ATV. Not sure if this is related to the latest DSM beta or not…
But I have photo station back, and don’t want to risk losing it again, which happened to me wit the 0.1-4 version.

Are the files compatible with the ATV (i.e. will they play through iTunes), if not your NAS may not be powerful enough to transcode (check the list i have referenced a few times in this thread).

You should able to so something else is going wrong e.g. the application crashing.
I do not have a Synology so someone else will have to chime in to help you on this.

DNSServer: failed to create socket on UDP port 53: [Errno 98] Address already in use
PlexConnect: DNSServer not alive. Shutting down
I seem to have something running on port53, but installed packages are:

Python 2.7.5-6
What could be stopping things on port 53?

Have been trying to get this working all afternoon, reading post after post. but unable to get it working, i probably doing something really wrong, please help!
My configuration:

Maybe you have DNSmasq running (if not another DNS server hogging port 53), if so and you do not need it kill it and prevent is from autostarting.

Is there a way that i can view all active processes with their associated ports ?
