DNSmasq is in sleeping mode...
Is there a way that i can view all active processes with their associated ports ?
There is but i do not have a Synology so am not sure but i am sure someone else or google will be able to tell you the specific command.

okay... have found info on google how to view open ports...
started telnet to NAS..
command : NETSTAT -AN
(show currently open ports and their status)
This is the info I could found regarding open UDP port 53
Local Address Foreign Address State
1.udp 0 0 192.168.0.199:53033 192.168.0.1:53 ESTABLISHED ( this is the PMS pointing to gateway/DNS)
2.udp 0 0 ::%4287666408:53 ::%134585019:* ( no idea what this is..., somebody ? )
update 21:30
have checked /usr/local/plexconnect/share/PlexConnect/Settings.cfg
and it looks like there is something wrong with this file
Skummy> vi /usr/local/plexconnect/share/PlexConnect/Settings.cfg
[PlexConneconnect]
port_pms = 32400
enable_plexgdm = True
ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8
ip_webserver = 0.0.0.0
loglevel = Normal
enable_dnsserver = True
ip_pms = 0.0.0.0 <<<<----- blank ?????
port_webserver = 81
I am a really a newbie when it comes down to unix, how can I edit the file to represent my ip_pms?
Just a warning: Plexconnect is not tested with the 4.3 beta version of DSM. Only with DSM 4.2!
It looks like 4.3 somehow uses port 53. One workaround could be to install the sysology DNS server package as documented in the first post!
hi bwynants,
Thanks for your reply, but as far as I can see.. I have no separate DNS server installed. :( ..
ITS WORKING!!!!... YEAH!!!!! :P :D
I decided to install the DNS package and configured it the way it was described on the first page. Unfortunate after starting plexconnect it immediate stopped again..
After taking a big cup of coffee.. :-), I quit the dnsserver package. removed plexconnect app and after that dns server package..
After reading some more on the several pages, i thought... will give it one more try
- check netstat -nlp before installation of plexconnect, and port 53 did not show up
installed plexconnect, and a noticed that app stayed active... :D
- check netstat -nlp again,
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:53 0.0.0.0:* 15344/python
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:81 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 15345/python
Turned ATV3 on, selected trailers... and it worked!!
And learned a little bit of UNIX in the process... lol
- if i would know how to export the plexconnect log file, then i would be happy to add that -
This is so great,
big, big thanks to the development team !
a quick recap:
Apple TV 3,
PMS 0.9.7.22,
plexconnect 0.1-4,
DSM 4.3-3750 (beta)
As I have mentioned before, I found that if you use DHCP on any interface of the synology then port 53 will be used. Disable dhcp and you should be good to go.
Thanks everyone, it worked on my DS213 the first try! Here are the steps I took, not sure if I needed them all but it works perfect.
Can someone please update the spk with the new version of PlexConnect?
It would be appreciated.
Thanks
Cannot install plexconnect 0.1-4 on the latest DSM beta. DSM reports "invalid file format". Any help is appreciated.
Hi, from which source did you obtained the plexconnect software ?
Is your file extension .spk?
Hi, yes.. the extension is *.spk, and I downloaded it from synocommunity

Hi there, what is your model NAS, and did you installed python (v 2.7.5-6) ?

DS 1513+, Python 2.7.5-6 is installed and running.
The spk I downloaded is 26kb in size. Is it supposed to be a tar archive? I'd like to make sure it's not corrupted.

how can this be? it is not on synocommunity yet... you need to obtain it from the first post
I probably made an error, I downloaded python from synocommunity and plexconnect from first page.. sorry about the mixed up

make sure you rename the package, could be your OS is hiding the real file extension and the file has 2 extensions....
Can someone please update the spk with the new version of PlexConnect?
It would be appreciated.

Won't do this until PlexConnect 0.2 is released.
If you want an updated version read througt this thread, there is an explanation of how you can do it yourself.
Hey,
What was the Change in 0.1.4?
Because the 0.1.4 doesn't work at me, but the 0.1.0 - 0.1.1 - 0.1.2 - 0.1.3 works very fine on my DS712+
Maybe there is a Bug....

only real change is how the vhosting is done, this is now done in a more compatible way...
what happens? doesn't it start? what's in the log? does dns resolving not work?
